Chandler raised an eyebrow. “Feel sorry for me?”
“Yeah, your dad clearly knows that Dalton is colluding with Zane to harm you, yet he stood by Dalton’s side, trying to downplay the situation.”

Chandler gently ruffled Meryl’s hair. “I’ve long since gotten used to it. Not everyone gets the love of their family.”
Meryl looked up, her eyes sparkling. “I will love you well. I’m your family.”
This brought a smile to Chandler’s face. “Oh? Is that so?”
A strong hand wrapped around his waist. Chandler lowered his head and softly kissed Meryl’s lips.
Meryl was momentarily taken aback, the soft touch causing her cheeks to flush.

Chandler kept his eyes open, watching Meryl’s emotional

He had been in agony for the past half a month.
To avoid raising suspicions, he had to pretend everything was normal.
Since Meryl was in Dalton’s grasp, he worried that the more he searched for her, the more he would provoke Dalton. That would only make things worse for Meryl.
Several times, Chandler had even considered capturing Dalton’s parents and using them as leverage for a trade.
But reason told him that such actions would only worsen Meryl’s situation.
As the kiss ended, Chandler still craved more. He leaned downI, placing another heated kiss on Meryl’s collarbone.
Meryl shivered.
He supported her from behind, kissing her as he made his way toward the upstairs room.

Chandler clearly wanted to take things further.
His face was close to hers, teasing her soft lips with gentle bites, his breath growing increasingly hurried.
Meryl’s dress became disheveled. As she felt Chandler’s hands lifting her skirt, preparing for more, she suddenly remembered something important.
