There was a dead silence for a few seconds.
Yancey gazed at Anne’s face and said firmly, “I am the baby’s father.”
His statement irritated Dante, and he punched Yancey in the face.
Yancey’s nose bridge was hit, and blood gushed out instantly.

“How dare you say you are my daughter’s father? Where do you get the courage?”
At the sight of the blood, Anne got angry.
“Dante, why are you going crazy in my ward? Get out of here right now!”
Yancey covered his nose bridge with his hands, his face showing pain. Meryl quickly took out a tissue and handed it to him. “Yancey, are you okay? Do you need a doctor?”
He shook his head and blocked his nostrils with a tissue. “It’s just a minor injury.”
With that, he glanced at Dante and said, “Go out. Don’t annoy Anne. She just had a cesarean section. If she gets furious, the wound will easily split.”

“Go home now. You’re pregnant. Take care of yourself. At least I’ve given birth now.”
Meryl was still worried about Anne.
Yancey immediately said, “Don’t worry, Meryl. I’ll look after her, and the servants are on their way here.”

Meryl nodded and left, leaving only Anne and Yancey in the ward.
“Are you hungry?” He considerately tucked the corner of the quilt for her.
Anne shook her head gently, gazed at Yancey’s embarrassed appearance, and said softly, “Wash your face.”

The cold air invaded her limbs and bones. She was suddenly at a loss. She couldn’t stop shaking slightly, and her spirit was strained like a string ready to snap.
At that moment, Yancey was brought in by a nurse.
He approached Anne, held her hand, and coaxed, “Don’t be afraid. I’m here.”
