“Forget it. You probably weren’t going to say anything useful anyway,” Felix said casually.
Without hesitation, he yanked the keys from the guard’s belt and strode off toward the concert hall without a backward glance.

She glanced up and locked eyes with Felix.

dawned.

Meanwhile, Chandler arrived outside the concert hall and jumped out of his car, striding purposefully toward the entrance.
Spotting the guards, he grabbed one by the collar and demanded, “Where are the keys?”
After Felix’s earlier “visit,” the guards had become somewhat desensitized.
Tonight, it seemed like the concert hall had turned into a magnet for troublemakers. Here came another relentless one.
The guard, now thoroughly resigned, blurted, “Some guy took them five minutes ago.”
Rachel trailed behind Chandler, leisurely fixing her hair. “Chandler, wait for me!” she called out.

Chandler didn’t even glance her way. Instead, he picked up his pace and disappeared into the building.
Inside, Felix quickly noticed Meryl’s condition.
Her lips were turning blue, and her hands and feet were ice–cold. She was freezing.
Felix’s brow furrowed. Without hesitation, he pulled off his coat and handed it to her. “Put this on,” he said firmly.
Meryl hesitated. She knew it was inappropriate, but the bone–chilling cold was unbearable.
Her body felt like it was shutting down.
With no room for pride, she wrapped herself in Felix’s coat. The warmth was a relief, but as her mind cleared, a thought surfaced.

Meryl looked at Felix. “Was it you who killed Mr. White?”
“Mr. White?” Felix frowned. “Who’s that?”
“Yinson White, the bar owner. Didn’t you Jure Rachel there?” Meryl pressed.
Felix let out a dry laugh. “Why would I kill him? I don’t even know who he is. Cover my tracks? You give me too little credit. For something so trivial, I wouldn’t bother.”
Meryl studied his face, searching his eyes as if trying to determine the truth.

Realizing, she was already late, she turned to leave, but Felix
spoke up. He seemed to guess what she was up to.
“Did you see the photo I sent you?”
Meryl frowned. “My phone has no signal. What photo?”

Felix handed her his phone. On the screen, Meryl saw a picture of Chandler and Rachel sitting in a car together.
They were parked outside the orchestra building, appearing to talk.
From the angle, it looked almost like they were embracing.
“This one wasn’t staged,” Felix said, shrugging. “I just happened to catch them.”
Meryl’s face turned pale. Her fingers curled tightly, and she bit her lip.
Felix’s voice was low but deliberate. “So, what do you think? Maybe it’s time you stepped aside and let them be.
“Or better yet.” his gaze flicked to her abdomen. “Marry me. Let· me try the role of a ready–made dad.”
At his words, Meryl snapped. She shoved the phone back at him.
