Chapter 592 Clearing the Air
Meryl sighed inwardly.
She thought she had every reason to be angry, but Chandler looked like he was carrying the weight of the world. She didn’t understand what he had to be upset about.
She thought, “You’re the one who left your pregnant wife locked up, while you were off with Rachel.”
She stabbed her fork into the pasta, refusing to meet his eyes.
Chandler still had bruises on his face from his earlier fight with
Felix.
Though Chandler had landed more punches, Felix had fought back hard.
His jaw was swollen, and a small cut at the corner of his mouth still oozed blood.
When Meryl had nearly finished her food, Chandler finally broke the silence. Looking directly into her eyes, he asked, “How do you know Felix?”
The events of the night had left him reeling.
He didn’t think Meryl had been meeting Felix on purpose.

Seeing Felix hold Meryl, hearing him profess his feelings, had nearly driven Chandler to the brink.
He couldn’t understand how their relationship reached such an
intimate level.
Felix had expressed his concern and admiration for Meryl, which made Chandler really uncomfortable.
He didn’t like the feeling of his wife being coveted by others.
But as a mature man, despite his jealousy, Chandler wanted to understand what had happened. He had to know the truth.

Keeping his voice steady, he pressed her again. “Meryl, when did you two meet?”
Meryl’s reply was soft. “We met once, a long time ago. In prison.”
Chandler’s eyebrows shot up. “And now? What’s your relationship?”
“There’s nothing between us,” she said firmly. “He was my patient. I treated his injury and helped him walk again.”
Relief washed over Chandler.
So, it had all been a misunderstanding.
He reached out and held her hand, his tone low and serious. “But he has feelings for you.”
Meryl set down her fork and looked him straight in the eye. “I can’t control what others feel. But I can promise you, I’ve
done nothing wrong. Now, what about you? Didn’t you say you wouldn’t meet Rachel alone again? Why were you with her tonight?”
Her big eyes brimmed with unshed tears, and her voice trembled with hurt.
