Julia saw

Julia’s hand instinctively reached for his. The familiar voice on the radio made sense now, Ethan was two years ahead of her in school. She’d thought he’d become a pilot, but he was an air traffic controller.
“Ethan Reed,” Julia was still slightly stunned. His chuckle snapped her back to reality, “Sorry. I just didn’t expect you to be the air traffic controller.”
She’d run into so many familiar faces–David was also her acquaintance. And then she met Ethan.
“It’s okay. Small world,” Ethan said, pulling out a chair for her.
Julia sat down. As the table filled, it became lively. David, who was really talkative, chattered away.) “It’s wild we’re all from the same flight school and we’re all on this flight!” “Speaking of which, I used to believe Julia and Ethan were a couple, but things never go as planed.” David sighed.“And now we’re in the same city again!”
Others asked David to elaborate.“What do you mean by that?”
“Captain Kang fell for her flight instructor. Sadly, he wasn’t a good guy,” David said, glancing at Julia.
Julia hadn’t expected David to bring it up. She remembered her time at flight school. When she first met Shaw, he was a co–pilot but had been the dream guy of many girls. She fell in love and swore to be good enough for him. She succeeded, but then she fell into his trap.
David continued, “Ethan always…”
“David!” Ethan interrupted him by serving him food.“Eat.”
David stopped talking.
Everyone was in aviation. They wouldn’t be drinking since they had flights in a couple of days. The meal brought them closer.
Afterward, Ethan offered to take Julia home. The night air was chilly. Ethan took off his scarf and wrapped it around her neck.
Julia’s face flushed. She was about to speak when she saw the familiar stitching. She looked at Ethan.
Ethan looked at her softly.“What’s wrong?”
Julia touched the scarf.“You still have this?”
Ethan chuckled, looking away.“I wouldn’t throw away anything you gave me.”
It sounded full of unspoken emotions. Julia felt like a jerk.
“Seven years have passed. I thought you lost it,” she said.
“No,” he whispered.
She made the scarf for him after a bet- whoever lost had to do something for the other.

In the ear, Julia felt herself getting warmer. She didn’t know whether it was the air conditioner or the fact that he was too close to her.
She was still warm when she reached her dorm. She lay in bed, laughing at herself.“Ethan wouldn’t be interested in you. He just hates waste.”
Julia stayed in her dorm until three days later. She put on her uniform and went to the airport. David hadn’t seen Julia for several days. Seeing her, he immediately asked, “Captain Kang, what have you been doing these days?”
Julia pursed her lips and said casually, “Preparing for today’s flight.”
“Why? You’re so experienced,” David continued.
Julia frowned slightly. Perhaps that was why David couldn’t be a captain.“Shut up and tell the maintenance staff to check the plane.” This was their first flight. They had to keep their spirits
- up.
“Don’t worry, I have already told them.”

Hearing that, Julia continued, “Inform Soon, the crew dressed in neat uniforms stood in the conference room in order.
Julia nodded and said softly, “Today is our first flight. We must all be on our best behavior, especially the co–pilot and the flight attendant.”
