Julia went to the airport early.
The duty officer greeted her.“Captain Kang, you’re here early.”

“I wanted to do some checkups,” she replied. The dorm was nearby, and the flight was at 10 AM. She went to the plane. Mechanics were doing maintenance. A mechanic saw her.

was proud to have her as their first female captain. “Thank you,” Julia said. People in Denver were genuinely kind. It was different from Chicago. In Chicago, people looked at her like she was a fool who would do anything for Show without hesitation. She didn’t understand it then, but now she did. She had been a fool, loving someone without loving herself first.
The flight to Zurich was peaceful. The return
flight, however, was not.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve reached cruising altitude. Meals will be served in five minutes. Our flight altitude is 35,000 feet, and speed is 450 mph. Thank you!”
Julia monitored the instruments. Ten minutes later, the radio crackled.“Captain, this is Sarah. A passenger harassed me; the flight attendant tried to intervene and was punched.” Julia’s face fell.“Contact security. I’m on my way.”
“David, monitor the plane. I’ll handle the situation,” Julia told David.
David raised an eyebrow.“Let me do it.” He was a man; he should be the one to handle it. Julia shook her head firmly.“I’m the captain.”
David agreed.
In the galley, security had subdued the passenger. Sarah was helping the flight attendant with her wound. Julia approached.
“Emily, are you okay?”
