Love fades. She was beautiful and Skyways‘ only female captain. She shouldn’t dwell on romance. Julia looked out at the falling snow. She was calm. Shaw said he loved her, but he was marrying Sierra. It didn’t matter to her anymore.
Shaw went to Denver again. He saw Julia running on the training field and called out,“Julia.”
Julia was surprised to see him again.“What do you want?”
I’m getting married,” Shaw said, staying distant. He knew she didn’t want to see him, but he Couldn’t control himself. He wanted to see her reaction, to know if she still loved him.
He was disappointed. Julia’s eyes held only disgust.
‘Get married, whatever. Why tell me? I’m not your mother,” Julia said, confused. What the heck was he doing?
“Okay, I understand.” Shaw looked a bit shorter than before.
I’m going,” he said, closing his eyes. When he opened them, his eyes were red.
David walked over. Julia was Ethan’s, so he had to keep an eye on her for Ethan.“Get out of here, dude. It’s too late.”
Shaw clenched his fists.“Who are you? It’s none of
your business.”
He was willing to humble himself before Julia, but not anyone else.
“Who am I? I’m Julia’s friend; who are you?” David was embarrassing Shaw on purpose..
“Did anyone teach you manners in flight school?” Shaw’s anger flared.
“Did anyone teach you about decency? Shaw, this isn’t flight school anymore. I’m not afraid of you,” David replied. Shaw had been his instructor. David had admired him until he learned about who he had done to Julia.
Snow fell on Shaw, melting into water. He opened his mouth, looked at Julia, and sighed.
“It’s snowing heavily. Take care of yourself. I’m going.”
Shaw left quickly. David breathed a sigh of relief. Shaw was really captivating; he was afraid Julia would change her mind.
He chuckled.“He’s gone. I’m going too. Bye.”
Julia shook her head, ran three more laps, and went home.
