Shaw nervously pulled her into a hug.
“Julia, I’m sorry. Sierra and I have a history, but that’s over. That’s why I didn’t tell You’re my girlfriend, and you’ll always be my girlfriend.”

In the past five years, he’d never mentioned Sierra or had a scandal with another woman. Everyone had a past. It didn’t matter that he’d loved someone else before, as long as his heart was Mors

Sierra’s voice rang out.“Shaw!”
Shaw released Julia and stepped back.
Seeing his nervousness, Julia’s heart ached. Wasn’t she his real girlfriend? Why was he acting like she was some dirty secret?

She walked away. The dark sky held no stars, only the dim streetlights illuminating her lonely back. She walked

She thought she was prepared. But her heart still ached.

She arrived home at 1 AM. Her heels had blistered her feet. She disinfected and bandaged them before collapsing on the sofa. She opened Instagram, seeing Sierra’s new post. “Shaw’s a total gentleman. I feel so safe with him.”
In the photo, Sierra was in a bunny outfit and playfully perching on Shaw’s neck. Julia felt so hurt. A year ago at Disney World, she had wanted to do the same thing, but Shaw thought they were too old for that. So, it was not about the age. It was about the person. Shaw’s love for her was always less than what he gave Sierra.

Julia took breath, swallowing her sadness. She only had few days left. She packed her stuff. Only a few unworn matching outfits remained. They usually wore uniforms, so these clothes were all brand–new.
She decided to throw them away. As she packed her suitcase, Shaw returned. He saw her closing her suitcase.“What are you doing?”
Julia didn’t look up.“Packing for my flight.”
Shaw thought of their flight the

day.
He didn’t
suspect anything.
“Let me help.”
He locked the suitcase. Julia’s heart stirred. He didn’t even look. This wasn’t just her uniform. It was her everything.
Shaw sensed her sadness.“I didn’t get a chance to publicly announce our relationship at the
dinner. I’ll do it next time.”
Julia didn’t respond. He’d promised that countless times. There was
no next time.

Shaw added, “After tomorrow’s flight, let’s go see the Northern Lights in Alaska! You always wanted to do that.”
Julia froze. He had refused to see the Northern Lights more than once, but he changed his mind as soon as Sierra returned. Thinking of the gossip, Julia smirked.
Perhaps she was doomed to lose.
She looked at him, the man
“Okay. Let’s see the Northern Lights.”
she’d loved for five years, and nodded calmly.
What place used to be where he and Sierra broke up. It would be their breakup spot, too.
