Before Laurel could make a move, Kaleb quickly grabbed her arm.

“Calm down? How can I possibly calm down? One hundred million dollars, gone because of Isabel!” Laurel was beside herself with rage, as if Isabel had torn a part of her soul away.
Eva stepped in, trying to defuse the situation. “Mom, please stop. They have bodyguards. If you act like this, you’ll just end up being thrown out again, like last time.”
The thought of being humiliated twice in the same way sent a surge of anger through Laurel, her teeth grinding so hard she felt like they might crack. She growled at Villa No. 7
“That girl! What did I ever do to her in a past life? Did I rob her grave or something? Is that why she’s doing this to me?” Before she could finish, a soft voice interrupted her.
“Maybe you did. Maybe you were a grave robber, a wicked thief, and you disturbed my resting place. If that makes you feel better, go ahead and believe it.”
The voice was unmistakable to Laurel.
“Isabel!” she spat, her words full of venom.
Kaleb frowned when he saw Isabel.
When she had first mentioned marrying someone else, he assumed she was just trying to provoke him, stirring up feelings on purpose.
But then, that night at the karaoke lounge, Xander had shown him their marriage certificate.
Having seen it before, Kaleb brushed it off at first, thinking it was fake.
But when he took a closer look that day and saw the date–the exact day Isabel and him were supposed to get married but broke up instead–it became clear that she wasn’t joking.
Besides, Xander had stated explicitly that they were both standing up at the altar, so they got together. instead.
Isabel was really married.
The truth hit him hard, a bitter frustration swelling in his chest as he saw her standing there, calm and composed.
As Laurel advanced with fury in her eyes, Isabel simply raised one corner of her mouth into a faint, amused smile. “I’m right here. Why are you yelling? Did someone just turn 50 and lose their hearing? Is that why you’re shouting like that?”
The taunt sent Laurel into a rage. Her eyes bulged, bloodshot with fury, and her face flushed as she lunged at Isabel
Isabel stood her ground, a serene smile on her face as she met Laurel’s furious gaze.

With a hiss, Laurel lunged, aiming to slap Isabel across he face, but Isabel was quicker. She stepped aside. with lightning speed, dodging the attack effortlessly, Laurel was left stumbling forward, crashing face first onto the cobblestones with a sickening thud.
“Ahhh!” Laurel screamed, the pain intense as her face hit the ground.
Eva and Kaleb rushed to her side, helping her up.

“Ha!” Isabel couldn’t hold back, bursting into uncontrollable laughter.
Laurel looked even more absurd now.
Her face turned a deeper shade of red and purple, her eyes burning with rage as she glared at Isabel.
Eva lowered her gaze, waiting a moment before stepping forward.
“Isabel, you’ve gone too far. You humiliated my mom, and now you’re laughing? Do you have no sympathy at all?”
Isabel raised an eyebrow, unfazed, and replied with a smirk, “This is rich. You’re blaming me? I’m just standing here. She came at me first, and I didn’t fight back. When someone attacks me, I dodge. And somehow, I’m the villain here? Is that how the Johnson family works? If someone wants to hit someone, they should just let it happen?”
Isabel had long seen through the Johnsons‘ thinly veiled act. Eva was only trying to win Laurel’s favor by pretending to defend her mother, hoping it would make her seem more sympathetic.
But Isabel knew better–Eva was just using her to achieve her goals of manipulating everyone.
“I didn’t mean it like that. I just wanted to tell you that you shouldn’t be laughing,” Eva said, putting on a helpless expression, trying to play the victim.
Isabel could see right through it but chose not to call her out. There was no point. Kaleb and his mother were blind to the truth anyway.

Isabel’s confidence and arrogance made Laurel and Eva seethe with frustration.

Logically, it made sense. But emotionally, Laurel couldn’t accept the harsh reality.
“Isabel!” Laurel snarled, her eyes burning with fury. “I’ll give you one last chance. Grovel and apologize to me, or you’ll never see my son again!”
