“It’s a good thing Xan isn’t home; otherwise, he might get so jealous and lock you in your room. 

Isabel glanced at Samuel before turning back to chat with Yvette. 

“Are you sure you should go with the baby on the way? Isabel asked.

Ill–skip the alcohol. It’s not often our old classmates gather, and I haven’t seen them in ages. I’ve been stuck dealing with pregnancy and feeling miserable, so a little change of scenery would do me some good.” 

At that, Isabel knew Yvette would be coming too. 

“By the way, this time, spouses are invited. You remember Sofia Burke, right? The one who was the campus belle? I heard she’s dating a really impressive guy now. She’s always bragging about how great he is. You should bring your husband along.” Yvette suggested. 

“I don’t think so. He’s too busy. I won’t drag him into this,” Isabel answered. Before she could say anything else. Samuel spoke up. 

“You didn’t even ask Xan, so how do you know he’s busy? I bet you just don’t want him getting in the way of you and the class president.” 

Isabel froze. 

She turned to face Samuel, her brow furrowing. “Don’t talk nonsense. The class president and I are just old friends. The only reason I didn’t tell Xander was because I didn’t want him to get jealous. You know how he #is—he’d get jealous over nothing. And by the way, you’d better not say anything to him.” 

“So, you want me to keep it a secret? Does that mean you have something going on with the class president?” Samuel teased. 

Isabel shot him a look, clearly frustrated. 

Xander and Samuel are truly brothers–they both have an annoying habit of jumping to conclusions. 

“I’m telling you, there’s nothing going on between me and the class president. If you tell Xander and he makes a big deal out of it, that’s on you.” 

Samuel was left speechless. 

He stared at her blankly, realizing she had succeeded in shifting the blame to him. 

The next evening, Isabel quickly applied some makeup and left the house. 

By the time Xander returned, she was already gone. 

“Where is she?” he asked. 

Samuel gave a quick glance toward Isabel’s room, curling his lips in irritation. 

“She went to a high school reunion,” Samuel said flatly

“Well, it’s because Samuel began, but then he remembered Isabel’s warning from the day before. 

she had said that if anything went wrong and led to faily drama, he would be the one to blame. 

“What?” Xander asked, raising an eyebrow at Samuel, dearly confused. 

“Oh, nothing.” Samuel replied quickly, remembering excuse. “I just remembered I have plans to play a gane with someone. I’ll head upstairs.” 

Nander watched him with narrowed eyes as he processed what Samuel had just said. 

“You know something?” Xander asked, his voice sharp. 

Samuel froze. He hadn’t expected Xander to catch on so fast. 

This is all Isabel’s fault. She didn’t have to hide the reunion from Xander, but she chose to, and now I’m the one who has to cover for her. 

Samuel sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. 

“Yesterday, I overheard her talking about it on the phone.” 

“Then why didn’t you tell me?” Xander asked. 

Samuel scratched his neck again, debating whether to keep up the lie. 

“Samuel.” Xander said his name slowly, almost like a warning. 

Samuel realized his brother wasn’t going to let it slide, and he knew it was time to tell the truth. 

Samuel didn’t hesitate any longer and shared everything he had overheard with Xander. 

“Hello?” Xander’s voice came through as soon as he dialed Isabel’s number. 

Isabel had just reached the restaurant for the reunion when Xander’s call came through. 

As soon as she saw his name on the screen, Isabel immediately realized he must have found out about the gathering. 

She didn’t really need to keep it from him, but Xander had a tendency to become overly protective. When he got jealous, it was like nothing else mattered. Each time, it felt like he was smothering her with his intensity. 

Especially after that rainy night … he took advantage, and she ended up carrying three little surprises inside her. 

“You’ve gone to a reunion?” Xander asked as soon as she picked up. 

“Yeah, it’s a rare chance to catch up with my high school friends. Yvette came with me, too,” Isabel said, mentioning Yvette intentionally to put his mind at ease. 

“Have fun,” Xander replied shortly.

“When does it end? I’ll come by and pick you up! Zander asked, his voice cata 

“I’m not sure yet. Don’t worry about it. I’ll just take a cab home when I’m done, Isabel replied quickly 

“Alright,” he said, and with that, the call ended 

Isabel sat there staring at her phone, still trying to wrap her head around the conversation. It all felt like something out of a dream. 

What is going on with Zander today? She had expected a more complicated conversation, but it had quickly and without warning 

onded to 

Samuel, still trying to figure things out, opened his mouth to speak, but before he could, he noticed Zander making another call, 

“Ms. Sullivan, I need your help with something Zander said into the phone. 

“Ms. Sullivan?” Samuel blinked, his thoughts quickly catching up. Xander was referring to Yvette. 

“I was wondering where you all are having dinner. Yeah, I plan to swing by and surprise her, so please don’t tell her, Xander continued, holding his phone to his ear 

Samuel couldn’t help but grin. I knew it–he cares too much about Isabel. After I mentioned the class president earlier, there’s no way that detail would just slip by unnoticed. 

It looked like Xander had come prepared–an unplanned visit to surprise her, or more accurately, catch her off guard. 

Samuel silently hoped that Isabel wouldn’t end up getting too close to that class president. 

Otherwise, he’d be stuck dealing with another live show. 

Yvette was already there, surrounded by a group of over 20 old classmates, chatting and laughing around the table. 

After hanging up, she eagerly glanced toward the private room door, her excitement clear. 

Tonight’s about to get interesting! 

Just as she thought that, the familiar voice of the class president, Logan Ross, rang out right beside her. 

“Isabel not coming tonight?” he asked. 

At his question, all eyes turned toward him.
