“Ugh-” Isabel gagged, then her pupils suddenly dilated as she quickly covered her mouth. 

Seeing Isabel’s reaction, Xander froze for a moment. After a brief shock, his gaze fixed on her lower abdomen, as if he was trying to see through her skin. 

He was all too familiar with this reaction, having seen it before on Yvette. 

He and Isabel had been intimate twice. The first time was in the rain one night, and afterward, Isabel had definitely taken the morning–after pill.

Isabel turned to him, confused. “Why are we stopping at a pharmacy? Are you feeling unwell? 

“You said it was just gas, right? I’ll go get you some medicine,” Xander said, getting out of the car 

Isabel watched Xander walk into the pharmacy, then sighed in relief, gently tapping her chest. 

Thankfully, he believed it. 

Once inside the pharmacy, Xander first grabbed a bottle of antacid, and then picked up a pregnancy test. 

Staring at the test in his hand, he frowned. 

The test required urine, which he wasn’t sure how to collect. 

But it wasn’t like there was no solution. 

Xander called Samuel, instructing him to block the toilet in Isabel’s room and set up a temporary urinal in the bathroom. 

That way, if Isabel needed to get up during the night, she’d have no choice but to use the temporary urinal. 

Unaware of Xander’s plan, Isabel assumed he had simply gone to the pharmacy for her medicine. 

When Xander returned, he handed her the medicine without making any effort to watch her take it.

Isabel noticed Ivana’s resentful gaze directed at her and met it calmly. “You’re wrong. Loving someone isn’t about using underhanded methods to hurt others. It’s about earning what you want with your own abilities, openly and honestly. If you can’t win them over, then it’s because you’re not capable enough, or maybe it’s just not meant to be.” 

Rachel was furious.

Ivana was equally furious. “Xan, come with me. I need to talk to you.”

“I want you to return the emerald guardian angel pendant. That belongs to Leslie. Leslie saw me as her second mother. I can’t stand the thought of you giving the pendant to someone else!” 

Meanwhile, Rachel was quietly speaking to Isabel. 

“Give back the emerald guardian angel pendant. It’s not yours!” 

“What if I don’t hand it over?” Isabel crossed her arms, looking at Rachel with a faint, mocking smile that only fueled Rachel’s anger. 

“Okay, fine. You … This is what you’re forcing me to do!” Rachel snapped, raising her hand, ready to slap her own face in frustration. 

But before she could make contact, she suddenly saw Isabel clutching her stomach and collapsing to the floor.
