Chapter 4
Chapter 4
I packed the rest of my belongings and scheduled an appointment at the hospital for reconstructive surgery.
After the procedure, even the doctor couldn’t help but comment,
“Whoever did your previous surgery? It’s rare to see someone deliberately make themselves look worse.”
I gave a bitter smile but didn’t respond.
People as foolish as me truly are rare.
doctor said I could resume my normal routine after a two–day recovery.
I nodded–it was perfect timing.
Once my face healed, I would bid farewell to everything in my past without a trace of regret.
As I prepared to head home, I unexpectedly came across Enzo Carson and Sonia Fenella arguing.
“You claim you don’t have feelings for her, but I can tell–you
still like her! If that’s the case, there’s no point in me clinging to the past anymore…”
Sonia pulled off the ring on her finger and angrily threw it into the artificial lake.
Enzo’s face turned ashen.
Without a second’s hesitation, he jumped into the lake.
The ripples in the water felt like stones hitting my heart.
I didn’t know how long it took, but Enzo eventually climbed out.
Shivering, he carefully wiped the ring clean and placed it back on Sonia’s finger.
His actions were as reverent as a worshipper making
“Sonia, my feelings for you will never change.
a vow before a deity.
Anything related to you, no matter how small, I treasure as if it’s priceless.” 1.
I stood frozen, watching my fiancé make a lifelong promise to another woman.
Sonia noticed my gaze and shot me a smug look.
As I turned to leave, I suddenly heard her exclaim,
“Enzo, I have a nosebleed! It must be my illness flaring up again…”
“I’m here. Don’t worry!”
Enzo scooped her up in his arms, frantically calling for a doctor.
After ensuring Sonia was settled, he began calling me incessantly.
The moment I showed up, he grabbed me and dragged me to the nurse’s station.
“Sonia has hemophilia. She and Mandy share the same rare blood type. Hurry, draw her blood for Sonia!”
A buzzing filled my mind.
So, not only had Enzo treated me as Sonia’s substitute,
He had also seen me as her walking blood bank.

“No, I refuse.”
I struggled to leave, but Enzo pressed me back down forcefully.
“Do it! You all know who I am. If anything happens to Sonia, I won’t let you off!”
The staff, too afraid to offend Enzo, pinned me down and drew my blood.
After five hundred milliliters, I felt weak and pale.
When I tried to stand. I collapsed.
A sharp pain stabbed through my abdomen, and warm blood flowed down my legs.
doctors and nurses panicked, rushing to take me to the operating room.
Even Enzo was frightened by my condition.
“Mandy, don’t scare me! You’ve always been healthy–how could this happen?”
“It’s okay. I’ll be with you. I won’t let anything happen to you…”

He followed nervously behind me, but when Sonia’s attending physician appeared, he stopped in his tracks.
As for me, I drifted into unconsciousness, the flow of blood draining my strength.
Half–conscious, I heard someone say,
“The baby couldn’t be saved.”
Baby…
I closed my eyes in despair.
I had once longed to have a child with Enzo Carson.
But now, I felt no sorrow.
After the surgery, I stayed in the hospital for two days under observation.
Enzo didn’t know about the miscarriage. He thought I had simply fainted from blood loss.
Feeling guilty, he would bring flowers and homemade meals after taking care of Sonia each day.
I threw everything he brought into the trash, again and again.
Enzo didn’t get angry or even ask about my changed face.
He simply looked at me calmly.
“It’s fine, Mandy. As long as I keep trying, you’ll forgive me eventually.”
I sneered and said nothing.
He saved my life once; I’ve returned the favor.
From now on, we’re even.
