Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Enzo tried to send Mandy a message but found that her social media accounts had also been deactivated.
Panicking, he began dialing anyone who might know her whereabouts.
But no one knew where she had gone.
The only information he managed to uncover was that Mandy had undergone reconstructive surgery on the day she donated blood.
Surgery?
o’s head shot up in realization.
Had she heard everything that night?
The thought sent a cold shiver down his spine.
How could he have forgotten that Mandy was an exceptional journalist?
Her keen intuition and sensitivity far surpassed that of ordinary people.
She also possessed extraordinary courage and resolve.
When she loved, she gave everything without hesitation.
When she left, she never looked back.
A torrent of emotions overwhelmed Enzo–regret, guilt, sorrow, and anguish.
And just then, Sonia called.
“Enzo, where have you been? Why aren’t you with me? Did you go see Mandy again? I’m back now–why are you still hung up on a stand–in?”
Sonia’s constant demands gave Enzo a splitting headache.
For the first time, he realized that Mandy, despite being labeled a “stand–in,” was a thousand times better than Sonia, the spoiled and capricious
debutante.
During their six years together, Mandy had always been understanding, silently tolerating and supporting him with
gentleness and love.
He no longer wan
to hear anyone, not even Sonia, speak ill of Mandy.
“Enough. I’ll come see you when I’m done!”
For the first time, Enzo hung up the phone on Sonia.
At dawn, Enzo returned to the hospital.
This time, instead of rushing to see Sonia, he sought information about Mandy.
One hesitant colleague finally revealed a truth that left Enzo utterly stunned.
Sonia Fenella had long since recovered from her illness.
Forcing Mandy Tamatha to donate blood, faking medical records, and refusing to leave the hospital-
All of it was merely her ploy to garner sympathy.
“Sonia’s illness was fake, but Mandy’s miscarriage was very real,” a colleague admitted to Enzo Carson, hesitating before continuing.
“Enzo, I know it’s not my place to say, but I can’t get past this.”
“You didn’t see how devastated Mandy was during those days. She tried to put on a brave face, but anyone could see her heart was shattered.”

“Even I couldn’t stand to watch, and neither could anyone else at the hospital.”
An outsider could see Mandy’s pain so clearly, yet Enzo, her fiancé, had been oblivious.
He had thought Mandy was simply angry, believing a few placating words would patch things up.
He never imagined that Mandy had already resolved to leave him.
What must she have felt during those final days?
Even the thought of it left Enzo feeling as though his
was being torn apart.
“What are you doing, Enzo? Why aren’t you with
here
ia’s voice suddenly rang out behind him.
She stood with her hands on her hips, glaring at him
“You didn’t come to see me last night, so you’re punished! Go buy me bubble tea to make up for it. And don’t you dare sneak any to Mandy. She’s just a stand–in–why should she get the same things I do?”
The words “stand–in” struck a nerve in Enzo.
He slammed the real medical report onto the table in front of Sonia.
“Enough! Mandy is my fiancée. Being good to her is my responsibility.”
“And don’t try to fool me with a fake illness. I know everything!”
Sonia’s face flickered with panic at the sight of the report, but she quickly regained her composure, bolstered by Enzo’s past indulgence.
“So what? I’m your first love. You love me. She shamelessly inserted herself into our lives. If it weren’t for her, we’d have been together long ago.”
Looking at Sonia, Enzo suddenly felt repulsed.
Her spoiled, deceitful demeanor now seemed utterly detestable.
How could someone like her ever compare to Mandy?
It was
this woman that he had lost the only person who had ever truly loved him.
Regret surged through him like a tidal wave.
Pushing Sonia aside, Enzo stormed out of the hospital without looking back.
As he walked, he silently vowed to find Mandy and bring her back.
But how can you find someone who doesn’t want to be found?
Unlike Sonia’s reckless decision to leave the country years ago,
Sonia had always left clues, hints-
Anything to ensure Enzo could track her down.
