Chapter 7
Chapter 7
At the slightest sign, Enzo would drop everything, boarding flights at a moment’s notice to chase after her.
For Sonia, he had missed Mandy’s birthday.
Forgotten their anniversary.
But Mandy’s departure was like a raindrop falling into the ocean, leaving no trace.
No matter how hard Enzo tried, he couldn’t uncover any leads.
girl who had never asked him for anything had vanished quietly from his life,
Leaving no chance for reconciliation.
The more Mandy disappeared, the more Enzo’s mind fixated on her.
He wanted to atone, to make amends, to recapture what they had.
His longing grew so intense that it began to affect his work.
During one surgery, he mistook the patient in front of him for Mandy, causing a critical error.
The incident made headlines, forcing Enzo to step down and reflect.
Past scandals were dredged up.
“This man is worse than an animal. On the surface, he treats his fiancée well,
but behind her back, he’s been cheating with his ex, even molding his fiancée to look like her!”
“A moral degenerate! Suspension isn’t enough–he should be in jail!”
The flood of public outrage couldn’t drown out the anguish in Enzo’s heart.
With nothing but time on his hands, his yearning for Mandy only deepened.
Every challenge he once faced, he had overcome with Mandy by his side.
Now, he was utterly alone, consumed by memories of what they once had.
Enzo began drinking heavily, spiraling into despair.
His friends tried to reason with him.
“If you knew this would happen, why didn’t you cherish her sooner?”
But Enzo could only weep silently, unable to form a response.
At rock bottom, he was on the brink of giving up completely.
Until one day, he saw Mandy on TV, giving an interview.
She was radiant, her entire being exuding confidence and light.
After three years of hard work, Owen Shawn and I won the most prestigious award in journalism.
The journey had been filled with countless sacrifices, sweat, and tears.
But holding the trophy in my hands, I realized it was all worth it.
The applause thundered from the audience below.

I smiled basking in the cheers, but amidst the crowd, I caught sight of a familiar figure.
It was Enzo Carson.
He looked like a completely different person from the man I once knew.
The meticulous doctor had turned into a haggard, disheveled shadow of his former self
“Mandy… I’ve finally, finally found you,” he choked out, sobbing in front of me.
He was still wearing the suit I had bought him years ago, but the brilliance in his eyes was long gone.
Over the years, I had heard bits and pieces about Enzo through various channel.
new he hadn’t ended up with Sonia Fenella.
I also knew he wasn’t doing well.
But I hadn’t expected the once–proud Enzo Carson to fall so low.
“I’m sorry, Mandy. I didn’t know you were pregnant at the time. I didn’t realize how much I had hurt you
I never meant to mold you into Sonia’s image. I was momentarily blinded by my own obsession.
During those six years, I had already fallen deeply in love with you.
Please, come back to me. I’ll do anything if you just give me another chance.”
Six years. Enzo had countless chances.
But it was only after I left that he finally understood his own heart.
Too late.
As tears streamed down his face, Owen walked up behind me, wrapping his arm protectively around my shoulders.
He smiled calmly at Enzo.
“Hello. Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Mandy’s partner in work and in life–her husband.”
Owen held up my hand, showing the diamond ring I wore.
Enzo’s face turned ashen.
He stammered, unable to form a coherent sentence, repeatedly asking,
“Why?”
I smiled faintly. The answer was obvious, but he refused to face it.
“Because he doesn’t see me as a substitute for another woman.
He wouldn’t risk his life to retrieve a ring for someone else.
He wouldn’t take my blood to save another woman.”
“To him, I have always been the one and only. He was the one who stood by me during the darkest days of my life.”
Enzo stared at us, tears streaming down his face.
“No, Mandy. We were together for six years. I can’t believe you’d be so heartless.
You loved me. You accepted my proposal. How could you… how could you marry someone else?”
He looked like a lost puppy, abandoned and desperate.

Just then our boss came over with a cheerful smile.
“Mandy, winning such a prestigious award at such a young age–your future is boundless
“Don’t waste time here with irrelevant people. Come on, we’ve prepared a celebration just for you.”
Surrounded by my colleagues, I left joyfully, hand in hand with Owen.
Enzo tried to follow, but security blocked his way.
He called out my name in despair,
“Mandy, I was wrong! I’ve already sent Sonia away. Please come back!
now I made a mistake. Life without you is unbearable. Please, forgive me!”
Over and over again, he pleaded.
But I didn’t look back
Holding tightly to Owen’s hand, I walked forward with unwavering determination.
Now, I stood at a height Enzo could only dream of
With both career success and love in my grasp,
I had built a life that created an unbridgeable chasm between us.
Enzo could only watch from afar, consumed by regret.
Meanwhile, I walked confidently toward a bright future, my happiness shining for all to see.
