Chapter 4
All eyes turned to me.
But I didn’t care. I even walked towards Owen, meeting his gaze with a cold stare. “What’s stopping you from fulfilling their request, Alpha? Why don’t you mark your mate?”
Low murmurs filled the bar as everyone waited for Owen’s response, tension thick in the air. Owen’s jaw clenched as he finally responded, catching my wrist. “Don’t do this here, Aleli. Let’s talk about this at home.”
“No.” I yanked my arm away, glaring at him defiantly. “I want an answer now, in front of everyone. Why don’t you mark her? Oh, I almost forgot to introduce myself…” I looked around the room, making sure all eyes were on me. “I’m Luna Aleli, Owen’s mate.” I untied the scarf around my neck, revealing the bite mark on my collarbone.

Gasps and whispers erupted in the bar as Owen’s eyes widened in shock. Amber, on the other hand, was fuming with anger. She stood up, saying, “You are only his chosen mate, remember that. You’re only with him because I permitted it, so don’t get too comfortable, Luna. I can take it all away with a snap of my fingers.”
I tilted my head, meeting Amber’s gaze with a calm expression. “You don’t have to tell me that. I can see that you are eager to take him back, especially now that he’s now an Alpha. Am I right?”
Her shoulders stiffened as she looked around the room. The red tint on her cheeks indicated her embarrassment at being called out so directly. Staring back at me, she said, “I didn’t come back because of Owen’s position. I’ve loved him and will always love him, no matter what title he holds!”
Owen remained silent, clearly uncomfortable with the tension between

“Ladies and gentlemen!” the MC on the stage spoke up. “Our next song is personally requested by Alpha Owen of Hidden Spring Pack. Enjoy and feel free to hit the dance floor!”
The crowd erupted into cheers and applause, shifting the focus away from the awkward moment between Amber, Owen, and me. And instead of rushing my way out of this hellish situation. I decided to stay and sit at the bar, sipping my drink. After all, in a few days now, I was going to leave this life. I had to experience the peak of agony so I wouldn’t think twice to come back.
I had to endure the pain, so when the time comes that Owen realizes his mistake, it will be too late for him to make amends. This was my final act of defiance before disappearing from their lives forever.

Chapter 4
When the song ended, the LED display at the back of the performer read, “Be my mate again, Amber Kelly.”
The glass on my table shattered as I clenched it tightly. I thought that I was already immune from the pain of heartbreak, but the message on the LED display reopened old wounds. While the crowd was cheering and clapping, I was sobbing silently, trying to hide my emotions from the world.
“Aleli, this is not my doing. My friends made the display as a prank,” Owen mindlinked me, but I blocked him away before he could explain further.
