Chapter 102
He let the words sink in, and I could see the effect they had on Arman.
The color drained from his face, and his stance faltered, his jaw hanging open as he processed Ethan’s declaration.
Arman stood there for a moment, frozen, his face a mixture of shock and fury. Without another word, he flung the door open, the wood slamming against the wall as he stormed out, the sound of his footsteps fading down the hall.
Istared after him, then turned back to Ethan, still in disbelief. My heart was pounding, and I felt a surge of warmth and gratitude that left me momentarily speechless. I searched his face, trying to understand the truth behind his words.
Did he really mean it? Would he really stand by me if I ever chose to step into a role as powerful as Alpha?
He seemed to read the doubt in my expression and placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder.
“What I said was true,” he murmured, his tone softer now. He stroked my hair gently, the way he used to when we were children. “Sophia, I believe in you. And I look forward to the day when you grow into someone everyone will marvel at.”
Just then, one of the household staff entered the room, bowing slightly. “Alpha, Miss Sophia,” she announced, “the ingredients are ready.”
The announcement startled me, pulling me back from the moment.
I looked at Ethan in confusion, and he simply smiled, letting his hand fall from my shoulder.
“I came back early today,” he said with a grin, “so I thought I’d make dinner myself.”
A spark of joy leaped In my chest. “Really?” I exclaimed, excitement bubbling up. “That’s amazing!”
In our younger years, we didn’t have much, and with the constant turmoil in the pack, it was rare to have
any help around the house.
Back then, Ethan had taken it upon himself to look after me, even learning to cook so we wouldn’t go hungry.

Cooking in years..
Ethan chuckled, ruffling my hair. “Yes, really. Now, sit back and wait to be impressed.”
I watched as he disappeared into the kitchen, already hearing the clink of pots and the sizzle of ingredients.
Just as I was about to follow, a familiar voice interrupted me.
“Need a hand?” I turned to see Lirian standing in the doorway, a warm smile on his face, his dark eyes glinting with amusement.
“Lirian!” I said, surprised. “What are you doing here?”
Ethan’s voice drifted over from the kitchen, “I ran into him on n
way back and thought he should join us for dinner. Though, Lirian,” he added with a teasing lilt, “I don’t need any help in the kitchen.”
Lirian chuckled, stepping inside and taking a seat on the couch next to me. “I’m curious to see if Ethan’s cooking skills have held up over the years,” he said, casting me a sideways glance.
I grinned, feeling a familiar warmth at the thought of my brother’s cooking. “Trust me, you’re in for a treat. He hasn’t cooked in ages, but I’ll bet he’s still just as good.”
irian leaned back, folding his hands over his knee. “Oh, I know,” he replied casually. “I’ve heard it’s incredible.”
I tilted my head, narrowing my eyes at him. “Have you? How would you know?”
For a brief moment, Lirian’s calm expression faltered, and he looked away as if he had said something he shouldn’t have. “You’ve mentioned it before,” he said after a pause.
I stared at him, trying to remember ever discussing Ethan’s cooking with Lirian.
But the memory eluded me, and a nagging suspicion rose in my mind that there was more he wasn’t saying.
Before I could press him further, my phone vibrated in my pocket, breaking the quiet.
I glanced down at the screen. It was Mia.
When I answered, her voice was thick with panic, her words almost too quick to understand.
“Sophia, please, you have to do something.” she sobbed. “Ryan’s out there, in the snow, diving into The lake to find that ring you lost.”

“Oh?” I said, frowning. The weather had dropped to freezing, the wind relentless, and the artificial Jake would be bitterly cold.
“Just oh? It’s been hours,” Mia continued, her voice frantic. “He collapsed with a fever earlier, but he woke up and went straight back into the water. No one can get through to him. Sophia, please, talk to him. He’s doing this for you. How can you be so heartless?”
