Chapter 127
He looked at me, eyebrows raised in slight disbelief. “An inspection? This is the *Amazon Building“.
It’s perfectly safe. In fact, the owner of this building is an old friend of mine. You have nothing to
worry about.“
“Please,” I insisted gently. “It’s not about the building itself–it’s just for peace of mind. The building is older, and, well, you can never be too careful.”
Mr. Niles sighed, exasperated. “Fine, if it’ll help you focus on your work. I’ll send my assistant to do a once over. But I assure you, there’s absolutely nothing to worry about.”
nodded, thankful that he was willing to humor me, even if reluctantly. That nagging feeling of dread persisted, though, and later that evening, as I sat in my trailer, I found myself flipping through tomorrow’s script without really absorbing it.
My mind kept wandering back to the set, to Linda’s words, and to that dark premonition that had started plaguing me since I heard the film’s name.
Then, suddenly, my thoughts were interrupted by frantic shouting echoing down the corridor outside. I froze, my heart hammering as the echoes grew louder and more desperate.
“Fire! There’s a fire!”
The thick smoke swirled around me, its acrid, suffocating smell filling my lungs as it drifted through the hallways of the old building. Screams echoed from all directions, desperate shouts of those
trapped, trying to make their way out.
The panicked stampede of people struggling to escape only made the situation worse; shoulders bumped, people shoved, and a haze of fear clouded everyone’s judgment. I was only steps away from the safe exit, every instinct within me screaming to run and save myself. But then, a familiar cry cut through the chaos like a blade.
“Arman! Help me! I’m in so much pain!”
My head snapped toward the voice, my pulse quickening as I recognized Linda, huddled on the ground, her body trapped beneath fallen beams.
Her
then I saw
tear–streaked face twisted in agony, her voice cracking with desperation. And the him–Arman, standing just a few feet away, his face a mask of horror and determination. His usually composed eyes were wild, bloodshot, and filled with a raw intensity I’d never seen before.

Linda!” he shouted, his voice rough with emotion. Without hesitation, he charged forward, his gaze fixed only on her.
For a moment, instinct took over, and I reached out, grabbing his arm, pulling him back. The words were on my lips to warn him, to stop him, but when he spun around, his glare seared into me like
the fire raging around us.
His face was twisted with fury, as if my touch alone was an affront. For a split second, our eyes met,
and in that furious gaze, I understood his intent with chilling clarity–he was ready to give his life for
her.
The moment stretched out In a heartbeat, but I let go. I watched helplessly as he tore himself from my grasp and rushed headlong into the flames, not sparing a single glance back. I stumbled backward, horrified as I saw the flames reach out to him, engulfing his form with an intensity that
left no doubt.
Fire blazed over his figure, swallowing him in waves of violent orange and red. Smoke thickened around him, and it wasn’t long before it stung my eyes to tears.
My throat burned as I choked on the smoke, desperately trying to turn away from the horrible sight, yet unable to forget the agony in his eyes, the blind loyalty to Linda that pushed him to such reckless
self–destruction.
in the midst of the chaos, memories surged forward with a brutal clarity–remnants of my past life, moments I had spent countless nights wishing I could forget. I had tried to stop Arman then too, tried to pull him back from his dangerous path toward Linda
But he had reacted with unrestrained rage, punishing me for daring to interfere. I remembered how he had grabbed me, his fingers tangling in my hair, slamming me against the cold, unyielding wall.
The look in his eyes back then had been a twisted satisfaction, one that chilled me to the bone as he forced me to apologize over and over, my voice breaking under his unrelenting cruelty.
And worse was yet to come. I remembered vividly how he had forced me into the suffocating heat of the sauna, trapping me there as Linda stood by his side, watching with a cold, detached amuseinent.
The intense, scalding air seared my skin, the unbearable heat pressing down on me as I gasped for air. Through the small glass window, I could see Arman’s mocking face, his voice echoing in my
mind as he sneered,
“Sophia, have you ever thought about how much worse it would have been if it had been me in there instead? How much pain, how much hopelessness?”
He had laughed then, pulling Linda close as she gazed at me with a smug, disdainful smirk.
Chapter 127
This suffering you’re feeling now? This is justice. This is what you deserve. Don’t ever find freedom. Sophia. You’re meant to live in pain, forever.”

Each memory struck me like a lash, and the regret that had haunted me flooded back, sharp and bitter. I had tried so hard to save him back then, only to pay with my dignity, my peace, my very will to live. In this new life. I wouldn’t make the same mistake.
So, as I watched Arman disappear into the roaring flames, I made my decision. I turned away, my footsteps heavy but determined, heading toward the safe passage that would lead me out.
