Chapter 14
didn’t
Ryan hurriedly opened the door and helped Linda lean against the car. He didn’t even wait for me to speak before he launched into an explanation, “Sophia, I’ve spoken with Linda. It was all a misunderstanding this morning. She didn’t mean what she said, and she understands that you mean to hurt her. Linda’s hurt now, and we’re just going to take her home. Let’s forget about what happened earlier, alright?”
I watched him, amused by his desperate attempts to smooth things over, his words tumbling out in a
nervous rush. The nerve of him.
I didn’t misunderstand
hurt her. Every single thing.” I said coldly, my voice cutting through the air like ice. “I meant to
I did, I did on purpose.”
Both Ryan and Linda froze at my bluntness. For a moment, they stared at me as if they couldn’t believe what I had just said. The shocked expressions on their faces were priceless.
Around us, a crowd of students had begun to gather, whispering among themselves.
“Isn’t that Ryan’s car? Why is Sophia acting like it’s hers?” one girl murmured.
“Yeah, she’s just the daughter of a servant. She should know her place,” another added.
Their words reached my ears, but instead of feeling anger, I found myself smiling bitterly. Funny, wasn’t it? I had once allowed Ryan to use this limo to help build his status, to make him look respectable in front of others. And now, in their eyes, *he was the master, and *I* was nothing more than a servant’s daughter.
I don’t know who spread those malicious remarks about me, but in my previous life, I dismissed them as mere gossip, false names whispered in dark corners. At that time, I never questioned why these rumors gained traction. When I was installed as a servant, the first thing that came to my mind wasn’t to defend myself or explain the truth. Instead, I foolishly felt a fleeting joy that my classmates had at least recognized Ryan’s so–called identity as a young master. I was blind to the complexities. beneath the surface.
No one knew the truth. My classmates certainly had no idea that my parents were once Alpha and Luna, revered leaders who sacrificed their lives in battle. They didn’t know I was the descendant of
hero and the sister of one of the most powerful Alphas in the realm–the Moonshadow Alpha. I kept this truth buried deep within me, too wounded by grief to ever let it out. In my previous life, I hid behind the mask of a lowly servant, drowning in my own sorrow and too consumed by my own “pain to notice the wheels turning against me.

wasn’t until the fake news of me bullying Linda spread throughout the school like wildfire that someone finally brought up my true identity. But the revelation didn’t help; instead of admiration, it dragged my family’s honor through the mud. It twisted the image of my fallen parents and tarnished the legacy of my brother. Public opinion, rather than turning in my favor, only worsened. I had become the subject of ridicule and disdain, my family’s name tarnished alongside my own.
In my previous life, I was too immersed in grief and depression to see the manipulation, the orchestrated malice that lurked behind those rumors. But now, with the clarity of hindsight, I see it all too clearly–there was a deliberate push, someone pulling strings in the shadows, making g sure every step I took was toward my own downfall.
“She’s just a servant’s daughter, what right does she have to act so arrogant around the real young
master?”
“It’s only because Ryan’s too nice to her… but she doesn’t deserve it.”
The sneers and whispers of my classmates echoed in the courtyard, pulling me back to the present.
My fingers curled into fists as I sat in the car, their words cutting sharper than I’d like to admit.
Ryan’s face twisted in frustration beside me. I didn’t know what had gotten into him today, but it was clear he wasn’t going to let this go easily.
This time, he would not back down, not even in front of the others. However, with so many eyes watching, he had to continue to talk down to me. He couldn’t talk down to me like he did that morning, when it was just the two of us and no audience.
“Sophia, stop it.” Ryan’s voice was strained, filled with barely concealed frustration. He leaned in closer, his tone dripping with warning. “I’m not even mad about what happened earlier. But if you keep this up… I won’t forgive you.”
I could feel the weight of my classmates‘ gazes, their anticipation thick in the air. They were eager for a spectacle, hoping to see me humiliated, brought to my knees by Ryan’s scolding. They had been. waiting for this moment–hoping to see me fall.
But I refused to give them the satisfaction. My voice cut through the tension like a blade. “I don’t. need your forgiveness, Ryan. Go back on your own. Don’t follow me all the way.”
Ryan’s face turned a sickly shade of green, his expression fluctuating between disbelief and panic. He knew as well as I did that his young master status was a façade, and if he didn’t get into this car with me, that illusion would begin to unravel. Desperation flashed in his eyes, and in a split second, he made a decision. With a sharp breath, Ryan lunged forward, reaching out to yank me out of the car, determined to drag me out so that he and Linda could take their place inside.
