Chapter 58
There is indeed a very special man.‘ I smiled, ‘I’m happy to have a smooth meeting with him.”
I thought back to my meeting with Zain. Convincing him to agree to my request had been no easy feat. After all, the man was a genius, and convincing him to work with me had taken more than a simple conversation.
He’d set conditions–specifically, that he’d need to check my body to confirm I had been exposed to CR–06 wolfsbane, as I claimed.
He wasn’t about to get involved in something without being sure of the facts, and I respected that about him. We had set a time to meet again after he prepared the necessary equipment.
When I left him, I warned him to be careful of Victor.
I remember the strange look that crossed his face, the slight hesitation before he nodded in agreement.
There was a lot he wasn’t saying, but for now, I had to trust that Zain understood the gravity of the situation.
A great sense of satisfaction rose in me as I recalled the successful negotiation, not noticing Lirian’s face which had become very sombre.
We all piled into Ethan’s car, and just as we buckled up, Ethan turned to Lirian. “By the way, did you tell Sophia the news?”
I raised an eyebrow, looking between them. “What news?”
Lirian’s face looked slightly better. He smiled slightly, ‘I’m transferring to your school, we’re going to be classmates.”
“Wait, seriously?” I asked, my surprise evident. “That’s amazing!”
The next morning. I arrived at school, still thinking about Zain and the upcoming meeting. I got to
class early and decided to take a quick nap before things got hectic. My eyes had barely closed when
heard the door open and a ripple of excitement spread through the room.
Whispers filled the air as someone entered.
Isthat… Lirian?”

sat up and looked around, noticing how my classmates‘ eyes were glued to the door.
Sure enough, Lirian was standing there, cool and composed as ever, scanning the room before his gaze landed on the empty seat beside me.
Without hesitation, he walked over and sat down.
Someone behind me whispered, “That’s Ryan’s seat.”
Another voice chimed in, “This is going to be good.”
Sure enough, not long after, Ryan appeared. His expression was dark, and I noticed the fresh gauze. wrapped around his head. His injury hadn’t fully healed yet, and from the looks of it, he was still dealing with the aftermath of the fight.
Ryan had been juggling multiple jobs and training for the team, all while keeping up with his
studies.
It wasn’t hard to see that the pressure was getting to him, but there was little sympathy from those around him. Life wasn’t easy when you were used to luxury, and now Ryan was learning the hard. way what it meant to live without it.
When he saw Lirian sitting beside me, a shadow passed over his face.
The tension in the room spiked. Everyone was waiting for a confrontation, but to everyone’s surprise, Ryan didn’t say a word.
Instead, he walked past us and chose a different seat at the back of the room, his face set in a grim expression.
Disappointment flickered across the faces of those who had been expecting a showdown. “Hey, Ryan, you’re just going to let him take your seat?” someone taunted from across the room.
Linda, always quick to defend him, shot back, “Ryan’s not scared. He’s just being smart, avoiding unnecessary drama.”
She glanced at Lirian, her eyes softening into what she probably thought was an inviting smile.
Lirian didn’t even acknowledge her. He was focused entirely on me, chatting as if there wasn’t a Toom full of curious eyes on us,
Linda’s smile faltered, and Mia, seated beside her, took the opportunity to snicker.
Honestly, who even cares about Sophia? Sitting next to her is like a curse for your grades.”

Lirian’s face darkened, but before he could say anything, I pressed my hand on his arm to keep him from responding. It wasn’t worth the fight.
Just then, the bell rang, and our teacher walked in. She didn’t look happy. There was an air of tension around her as she stood in front of the class, her eyes scanning the room before landing on
- me.
“You,” she said sharply, pointing in my direction. “Stand up.”
I stood slowly, confused by her tone. “Yes, ma’am?”
Her eyes bore into me. “Someone has accused you of cheating on the recent test. Do you have anything to say for yourself?”
