Chapter 106: Running Away From Home
Sophia remained speechless. Henry, grieving the loss of Zoey Smith, had sought comfort from his father, only to be abandoned.
And Brenda. He must have known how she felt about him, yet he allowed her closeness, perhaps seeing her as a lifeline, only to be abandoned by her as well.
-Sophia couldn’t imagine how Henry had endured that time; it must have been incredibly difficult. Then he’d lost his memory, forgetting his love for Zoey Smith, his hatred for Father Reynolds, his injuries, and then he came back.
He hadn’t deliberately erased his memories; he was saving himself.
“You don’t know what he did there, he…”
Sophia shook her head, stopping Father Reynolds.

She had decided to separate from Henry. She wanted to preserve the good memories she had of
him.
Leaving the ward, Sophia saw Linda outside, sobbing uncontrollably.
Back home, Henry wasn’t there. Worrying, she was about to call him when Mrs. Sterling called.
“Jay’s grandfather passed away. Henry went back to his hometown to handle the funeral arrangements. He asked me to tell you not to worry about him.”
Sophia replied, ‘Okay, I understand.”
Sophia, is something wrong between you and Henry?”
“There are issues.”
Mrs. Sterling sighed. I can guess what it’s about. Henry’s encounter with Zoey Smith in his youth was definitely the biggest calamity of his life.”
Sophia chuckled bitterly. She didn’t know Zoey Smith, but she had become her calamity.
The renovation of the old house was almost finished. Sophia planned to move her things there, then finalize the divorce with Henry once he returned.
She was packing when the doorbell rang. It was Mr. Givens, followed by a man in a suit.
“Ms. Ella, this is Mr. Sterling’s lawyer, Mr. Joe.”
Sophia was puzzled. “What’s this about?”
Mr. Joe extended his hand “Ms. Ella, how do you do?”
Sophia shook his hand. “How do you do?”
“May we come in?”
Sophia nodded and invited them inside.
Mr. Joe sat down, opened his briefcase, and pulled out a stack of documents. “Ms. Ella, I’m acting on Mr. Sterling’s instructions. He’s transferring three properties, shares in five companies, some funds, and an island to your name as part of your divorce settlement.” Mr. Joe laid out the contracts, opened the first one, and pushed it towards Sophia.
Chapter 106 Running Away
“If everything is in order, please sign here. I’ll handle the rest; you don’t need to worry. Sophia looked at the contracts, her brow furrowed.
“I won’t sign. I don’t want these things.”
Mr. Joe was taken aback. “Uh, you may not know how much this is worth–hundreds of millions.” “Regardless of the value, it’s not mine, and I won’t take it. Sophia was firm. “Ms. Ella, this is Mr. Sterling’s compensation. Please accept it,” Mr. Givens urged.
“I absolutely will not.”
Mr. Joe shrugged. “Then you’ll need to speak to Mr. Sterling.”
Sophia nodded; she should call Henry.
She called, and he answered quickly.
“Busy. What is it?”
Sophia was about to speak when he shouted at someone, “Hey, cry! Let me hear how loud
are.”
Sophia was confused. Who was he telling to cry?

Then, a wailing sob erupted on the phone, punctuated by cries of “Father! Father!” Heart–wrenching.
“Okay, okay, that’s enough. Six hundred and eighty, right? I’ll give you a thousand, but you have to cry your heart out tomorrow.”
The woman was delighted, repeatedly thanking him.
“What are you doing?” Sophia asked, unable to contain her curiosity.
“Jay’s grandfather didn’t have a daughter, and the local custom is to hire someone to impersonate his daughter to mourn him. That’s what I’m doing.”
Sophia twitched. He was certainly busy.
“Mr. Joe is here.”
“Oh, I sent him. It’s nothing important. Sign whatever he gives you.”

“Are you crazy?”
“Henry!”

Henry sighed. “Forget it. I’ll be back the day after tomorrow. We’ll go to the Civil Affairs Bureaut and get divorced.”
Before Sophia could respond, Henry hung up.
Sophia had no choice but to explain to Mr. Joe and discuss it when Henry returned.
Mr. Joe didn’t push it and collected the contracts.
“My advice to Ms. Ella is, don’t leave free money on the table.”
Mr. Joe smiled at Sophia and left.
“Ms. Ella, we’ll be going
now,” Mr. Givens said.
Sophia nodded. “Thank you for coming.”
“No problem. But… Mr. Sterling and Ms. Ella are so well–suited. Why did things end. up Mr. Givens shook his head and left.

The next day, Sophia moved her things to the old house and spent the night there.
The following day, Sophia called Henry, but he didn’t answer. She decided to wait for him at the Civil Affairs Bureau.
While waiting, Lucy called. She’d been released from her contract with SkyCloud. “Thanks to Young Master Reynolds’s help. SkyCloud didn’t dare to make things difficult for me.”
Sophia hummed. She’d asked Jason Reynolds for help.
“And Can has a mystery drama project. I passed the audition, and I start filming soon!” Lucy exclaimed.
That’s great. Cant’s projects always have great teams. This time you’ll really make it.” “Yeah! Oh, by the way, Shu’s birthday is today, dinner at the pub, you coming?”
“I won’t be able to make it.”
Lucy didn’t push.“It’s good you won’t be there. No need to run into Julian Jennings’s shenanigans.” By noon, Henry still hadn’t arrived.
Sophia called him again, still no answer. Realizing something was wrong, she called Jay! “He didn’t come home? I dropped him off in front of your villa last night, I saw him inside. “Okay, I’ll go to the villa.”

Sophia hung up and went to the villa, but she couldn’t find him anywhere. His phone was still off. Sophia checked the security cameras. She saw Henry come home, wander around the house, then go to his bedroom. About half an hour later, he came out with a suitcase and drove away. Had he… run away from home?
