Chapter 15: Lower Class
Sonya typed those three words, then deleted them.
Henry wasn’t in the entertainment industry. Even if he had influence, he couldn’t compete with the Jennings family.
“He probably couldn’t stand Seraphina’s team bullying me, and he had those photos, so he posted them, Sonya said nonchalantly.
Ashley shook her head.“It’s not that simple.”
After Julian’s clarification, Seraphina’s team quickly followed up, apologizing to Sonya and suppressing the photos of Seraphina and Liam.
Seraphina was discharged that afternoon.
When Sonya left the hospital, the fans were gone. Her life was finally returning to normal Exiting the subway, Sonya bought flowers, holding them as if embracing peace and beauty. Sonya’s good mood lasted until she reached the villa. As she passed Julian’s house, the gate opened. A maid came out with a package.
Seeing Sonya, she looked flustered.
“Miss Ella, it seems to be from your aunt…”
Before she could finish, a sharp voice cut through the air. “What are you waiting for? Throw it in the trash! W
don’t need that! It smells awful; it almost knocked me out.”
Julian’s mother, Jessica Jennings, emerged, pinching her nose..
Seeing Sonya, she frowned. “You’re like a leech. My son dumped you, and you’re still hanging around. Hah, of course. Why would I expect someone like you to have self–respect? You can only cling to men for a good life. But I warn you, stay away. Seraphina is carrying my grandchild. If you upset her, I won’t let you off easily.”
Jessica had always despised Sonya. In the past, she often gave Sonya a hard time and insulted her, even though she was Julian’s girlfriend.
Sonya hadn’t tolerated it then, and she wouldn’t now.
“Mrs. Jennings, should I get you a megaphone?” Sonya asked, raising an eyebrow.
“I don’t need that. You’re embarrassing yourself!”

Sonya approached the maid, glancing inside the box. Those were sausages and cured meats from her aunt. Her aunt raised a pig and sent these to her every year.
“Give it to me.”
Sonya reached
for the box, but Jessica shoved it, spilling the contents.

“How dare you?!” Jessica pointed at Sonya.“Now that you’re offending me and the Jennings family, we won’t let you survive in this city. Get out of the city hospital, get out of Chicago!”
Jessica retreated, telling the maid to close the gate.
“This is the most luxurious community in Chicago. Not everyone belongs here. She enjoyed the benefits of being with my son. Now she’ll live where she belongs–with the lower class!” Sonya didn’t want to argue. She picked up the sausages and meats, carrying the box towards Henry’s house under Jessica’s furious gaze.
Seeing her enter the villa across the street, Jessica yelled, “She’s still spending my son’s money! Holy shit!”
Back home, Sonya put the flowers in a vase, her anger subsiding. They were insignificant people; why bother getting angry?

Sonya could picture Henry’s grandmother’s kind face.
Sonya called her aunt, thanked her for the sausages and meats, and asked her to thank Alice.
Then, Sonya cooked rice and stir–fried sausages for herself.
After arranging the flowers on the table, she sent a photo to Henry.
“Your grandma sent me seafood. I don’t know how to cook it.”
He probably wasn’t awake yet. She went to bed, and he replied.
“She told me. I’ll make you seafood porridge when I get back.”
“Okay.”
“The flowers are beautiful.”
“Yeah.”
Chapter 15. Lower Class
“I saw your post, but I’m waiting for you to send me one privately.”
Sonya paused. This was strange. They hadn’t gone through the stages of getting to know each other, falling in love, but they were already living like a couple.
“Let’s renovate our home, in the style you like.” He added.
Sonya looked at the empty villa, the bare walls and single bed. Renovation was needed.
“I’ve never done it before.”
“Ask Luke for help. There’s a card in the shoe rack drawer. I’ll text you the password. Get what you need.”
“Okay.”
After exchanging goodnights and good mornings, Sonya fell asleep with her phone. The next day, the director’s secretary came to Sonya’s office.
“Doctor Ella, you’re fired.”
