Sonya rushed to that man and forcefully pushed him away. Just when she thought the truck was about to hit, it came to a steady stop in front of the sidewalk.

a red light.
The driver stuck his head out of the car window and looked at her with a confused expression on his face.
Sonya pursed her lips and turned to look at the man she had just pushed away. Being pushed, he bumped into the lamppost and was now staring at her with a puzzled look.
Sonya was momentarily embarrassed and didn’t know what to say. When she took two steps towards the man, she saw him avert his gaze and straighten his body. As his coat moved away from the lamppost, she noticed a long red line on the back of that coat.
Sonya’s mouth twitched, and as she looked ahead, she saw the staff of the road administration was painting the lampposts red. The one that man had just hit had just been painted, and the paint hadn’t dried yet.
The man first lowered his head to look at his coat. Then, he raised his head and looked at Sonya. He was pushed and bumped into a lamppost, and his clothes were also dirtied. Naturally, he would be angry.
“Well, I’m sorry. I thought that truck was going to hit you, so…” Sonya attempted to explain, but her explanation sounded a bit far–fetched.
The man glanced at the truck parked in front of the sidewalk again, remained silent for a moment, and then asked Sonya, “Do you stand on the sidewalk every day, waiting to hit anyone who crosses the road?”

Sonya felt so embarrassed. She really just wanted to help.
After a moment of silence, she changed the subject and said honestly, “Well, my last name is Ella. I’m the one who wants to meet you here.”
The man paused for a moment. Then, he looked closely at Sonya and finally recognized her.
“Ms. Ella?”

The man pursed his lips and said, “Actually, we don’t need to meet again.”

There weren’t many people in the café, and the two of them sat down at a table near the window.
