Seeing Seraphina West, Julian Jennings reluctantly released Sonya’s arm. Sonya rubbed her wrist and said to Seraphina West, “Keep your fiancé under control. Don’t let him bother me again.” “Sonya!” Julian Jennings gritted his teeth.
Ignoring him, Sonya entered her house and slammed the door.
“Sonya, Julian and I are going on a short trip tomorrow–a weekend getaway,” Seraphina West said with a slight smile.
“So?” Why was she telling her this?
“You’re my personal doctor, so you’re coming with us.”
Before Sonya could respond, Julian Jennings frowned.
“Seraphina, I can go with you. Don’t bring her.”
“But my lower abdomen has been feeling uncomfortable these past couple of days. I’ll feel better with Sonya.”
Julian Jennings nodded readily.“Okay, bring her.”
“No,” Sonya said, amused.“You two just decided this. Did I agree?”
Julian Jennings narrowed his eyes.“You have to agree.”
“Why?”
“Because I can turn your parents‘ house into rubble anytime I want!”
Julian Jennings!”
Sonya clenched her fists. He kept threatening her with her parents‘ house, and the most regretful thing was that *she had given him the house!
Taking a deep breath, she smiled coldly.“Fine, I’ll go. As long as you two don’t mind the third wheel.”
Lily Lane returned very late. She’d had a drink at Jake Parker’s bar and burst into tears upon entering Sonya’s home.
“What’s wrong?”
Lily Lane sobbed uncontrollably.
After a while, she calmed down.
“I… I feel so stupid…”
Sonya led her to the dining area and poured her a cup of hot water.
After a few sips, Lily Lane wiped her tears.“JoyPlus signed me.”
“Isn’t that great?”
“But they want me to give up the role I got from Director Davis to a newbie they’re pushing.” “What?! Why?”
“They want me to talk to Director Davis. If he agrees, I get compensation and can go to another production. If he doesn’t…”

“They didn’t say. They’ll probably just drop me and prevent me from finding work elsewhere. They’ll let me starve.”

“I’ve scheduled a meeting with Director Davis tomorrow. I’m hoping he can save me.” Julian Jennings and Seraphina West were leaving in the afternoon, giving Sonya the morning to accompany Lily Lane to Director Davis’s studio.
The studio was a charming, mid–century house in the bustling city center, surrounded by skyscrapers. A large

“Ms. Lane?” a woman in a black suit approached.
Lily Lane nodded.“That’s me.”
“Please follow me. I’ll take you upstairs to see Director Davis.”
“Can my
friend come with me?”
The woman looked at Sonya and smiled.“Please have coffee downstairs, ma’am. We have excellent coffee.”
Sonya thanked her and patted Lily Lane’s shoulder.
“I’ll wait for
you
downstairs.”
Lily Lane took a deep breath.“Okay. If I can’t handle it, I’ll call you.”
“Okay.”
After Lily Lane went upstairs, Sonya sat down. Behind her was a large bookshelf, but she wasn’t in the mood to read.
A woman in a red coat descended the stairs–Linda, a legendary actress, a triple crown winner at major international film festivals, a recipient of numerous prestigious awards. She’d won countless awards and was considered one of the top 100 actresses in cinematic history. She’d abruptly retired at age fifty due to family issues. Was she here for Director Davis’s drama?
Sonya, a huge fan, was too starstruck to approach her for an autograph.
Linda, with an air of arrogance, which she certainly deserved, was about to pass Sonya when she stopped, turning back. Sonya was discreetly watching her back, and their eyes met. Sonya quickly looked away, feeling slightly guilty.

Sonya turned to see Linda still looking at her. Was

Fans get excited meeting their idols. But idols get this excited meeting fans too?
“What’s

“Me?”
“Yes.”
Sonya scooted back.“Sonya.”
“Ha! I knew it… yes… yes… you’re one of my fans!”
Seeing Linda’s excitement, Sonya scooted back further.
“You’re so beautiful.”
“Not as beautiful as you.”
“Nonsense! You must not look in the mirror often. Look at your clear eyes, your straight nose, your lovely mouth, and your elegant aura!”
Sonya:“…”
Her idol might not be quite right in the head…

“Of course.”
Linda gave
her phone to her assistant, then excitedly sat beside Sonya, striking several poses, finally settling on a pose with her arm around Sonya’s shoulder.
Sonya tried to smile naturally, but it was probably a bit stiff.
After taking the photo, Linda gave Sonya her number, inviting her to call anytime. She seemed reluctant to leave.
“Ms. Sullivan, do you… know me?”
“No Ms. Sullivan. Call me Aunt Sullivan.”
“Huh?”
“Call me often, and we’ll become acquainted. Maybe even best friends!”
With a delighted laugh, she left Sonya completely dumbfounded.
