Chapter 48: The Wedding
A burst of firecrackers announced Henry’s arrival.

Sonya sat on the bridal bed, veiled, holding a bouquet, her heart pounding in rhythm with the firecrackers.
A month ago, she’d made an impulsive decision, saying “I do” to a stranger. A month later, knowing Henry, she was grateful for that impulsive decision.
The noise outside intensified. Lily Lane and Ashley, the bridesmaids, were teasing the groom. They’d gotten his wallet, and now demanded a talent show.
Sonya wondered what talents Henry possessed. Then, piano music filled the air.
The boisterous atmosphere was replaced by gentle, upbeat piano music–a quiet confession of love, touching her heart.
The door opened, and Lily Lane led her out. Olivornlight streamed into the hallway. He sat at an old piano, playing and gazing at her intently.
In his suit and bow tie, he looked like prince, watching her approach.
She walked towards him, under everyone’s blessings, until she reached him.
As the music ended, he rose, knelt, took her hand, and kissed it gently. “Sonya, thank
you for marrying me.”
Sonya blushed, pulling him up.
They stood in the sunlight, gazing at each other.
“Wow, Sonya is stunning! The groom is handsome!” Ashley exclaimed.
Lily Lane was speechless.“So, Sonya’s groom really *is* the Reynolds Crown Prince?” She’d known since yesterday, already shocked, but seeing him in person… He was not only rich but incredibly handsome.
“Henry, Sonya is a good girl. Treat her well,” Sonya’s aunt said.
“If
you dare bully our Sonya, we won’t let you off!” her uncle added.
Henry promised to cherish Sonya and protect her.
Sonya hugged her aunt and uncle.“Don’t worry; I will be happy.”
“Good girl. Remember, your aunt and uncle are your support system. Don’t let anyone mistreat you.”
“I know.”
Jason Reynolds approached. “Little Aunt, we’re family now. Can you change my contact name from ‘Second–Rate Dog‘? We can’t all be dogs in the same pack.”
Sonya, on the verge of tears, burst out laughing.
Henry was Jason Reynolds’s uncle; she was his aunt. How surreal.
Luxury cars filled the parking lot at SeaCloud Castle. Eminent guests had gathered. At the entrance, Reynolds and Jennings had separate reception areas. Mrs. Jennings greeted a friendly CEO’s wife, only to find out she was going to the Reynolds side.

Mrs. Jennings returned to Jennings’s father, grumbling, “We shouldn’t have chosen this day. Look how lively they are, and we’re so deserted.”
Jennings’s father scowled.“We could’ve networked, but everyone’s gone to the other side.” Julian Jennings joined them to greet guests.
“You wouldn’t listen! I said we should get a DNA test for Seraphina’s baby, but you refused…” “Enough!” Julian Jennings frowned.“It’s my wedding day. Stop with the negativity.” Mrs. Jennings muttered, “We’re not going to be suckers.”
Julian Jennings was agitated, his mind filled with the image of Sonya in her wedding dress.
She was actually getting married, today. He’d thought her words were a ploy to win him back. Was this her way of making him regret it?
“Who is the Reynolds family marrying? There were no rumors,” Mrs. Jennings asked. Jennings’s father showed the invitation.“The bride’s name is Sonya.”
“Sonya?” Mrs. Jennings exclaimed.“A coincidence?”
Julian Jennings snatched the invitation, seeing “Sonya” as the bride’s name. His heart pounded.
“It can’t be her. Reynolds wouldn’t marry someone with no status or wealth. She’s not even worthy to carry the Crown Prince’s shoes, let alone be his bride. It’s a joke!”
As Mrs. Jennings spoke, the Reynolds wedding procession arrived.
Henry exited the car first.
Photographers swarmed, their flashes illuminating him. He adjusted his bow tie, smiling dazzlingly, walking to the other side of the car, opening the door, bending down to take his bride’s hand.
As the veiled bride emerged, the flashes intensified. He seemed to bestow all the starlight upon her.
Sonya looked up at Henry and walked with him into the castle. It was a prince and princess stepping into a fairytale.
Then, Julian Jennings appeared, blocking their path.
He stared incredulously at Sonya, shaking his head.
“It can’t be you… it can’t be you…”
Henry stepped in front of Sonya.
“Julian Jennings, staring at my wife is rude.”
Julian Jennings turned to Henry.
“Why did you marry her? Are you doing this to humiliate me?”
“Julian Jennings, you think too highly of yourself.”
“You’ve always gotten to me, even with this wedding…”
Before Julian Jennings finished, Henry punched him.
