Chapter 55: Another Tantrum

He clung to the gate, preventing her from closing it, his eyes fixed on her with anger.
Sonya frowned.“What do you want?”
He didn’t answer.
Sonya took a deep breath.“Leave, or I’m calling the police!”
Julian Jennings’s rage escalated; he punched the wall.
“What are you doing at my door in the middle of the night?!” Sonya yelled back. “I bought your parents‘ house to give it to you!” he said through gritted teeth. “Ha, but you didn’t. You used it to threaten me repeatedly,” Sonya sneered.
“I will eventually give it to you!”
“Listen to yourself. Is that even remotely believable?”
Julian Jennings angrily pulled at his hair.“I will give it to you! But you shouldn’t have let Henry take it! He… he has no right! You sold it for *me*; it was your love for *me*. He doesn’t deserve it!”
Sonya shook her head. He was clearly drunk and delirious.
“Julian Jennings, have you forgotten? We broke up. Henry and I are married. He’s husband!” “Shut up!”

Sonya pushed Julian Jennings and tried to close the door, but he blocked it with his foot. She gave up, pulling out her phone and calling security.
“Please come to Building Eight. There’s a drunk harassing me.”
She hung up, arms crossed, watching him. Julian Jennings’s eyes burned, fueled by her call. “You… you deliberately married Henry to spite me.”
“Regardless of my reasons for marrying Henry, I’m married, and we’re happy. Julian Jennings, you got your princess. Why are you here instead of cherishing her?”
Julian Jennings glared, then his eyes flickered.“There’s no stomach medicine at home.”
“Whose home?” she asked.
Julian Jennings hesitated.“Mine.”
“What does my home have to do with you?”
“I don’t have stomach medicine. My… my stomach hurts.”
“And that’s my problem how?”
Julian Jennings glared again.“I said my stomach hurts! Shouldn’t you get me medicine?” * Sonya chuckled.“I would get you medicine, but since you’ve been drinking, you can’t take it. So I’d make you soothing soup. It’s time–consuming; I’d have to tend to it, massage your stomach, and comfort you. Then I’d feed you cool spoonfuls of soup.”

She laughed.
Do you want that?”
Julian Jennings’s mouth tightened; a flicker of hope in his eyes.
Julian Jennings, it’s over. Forever.”
He clenched his fists and glared.

Two security guards arrived. Sonya watched him. Julian Jennings, denied any comfort, stepped
back.
“Sonya, you’re the one who needs to wake up. Henry… he’s Henry. How could he possibly love someone as ordinary as you?!”
“Since he’s Henry, he’s unlike you, Julian Jennings.”
He’ll abandon you eventually.”
“Don’t worry about it.”
The guards intervened. Julian Jennings, embarrassed, glared at Sonya and left.
“Mrs. Sullivan, are you alright?” a guard asked.
Sonya shook her head.“Thank you.”
Inside, Julian Jennings winced in pain, clutching his stomach. His irregular sleep and drinking had aggravated his gastritis.
Sonya would have nagged him to take care of himself.
His medicine cabinet was empty, but the kitchen drawer held her recipe for soothing soup.
“Sonya, you think I’ll die without you? I can make this soup myself. It’s easy,” he muttered, starting to prepare it. She’d left enough ingredients.
It was still difficult and painful.
His alarm rang. He glanced at the dark living room–a haunted house now that he was alone.
The soup turned bitter. He vomited. He was in agony, slumped on the kitchen floor, when his phone rang–Seraphina.
He answered.“Julian Jennings, my patience is wearing thin. Stop your mother from calling! If she keeps pushing for a paternity test, I’m divorcing you!”
Julian Jennings clutched his stomach.“Come home, let’s talk.”
“I’ll come home if you stop your mother, and…” Seraphina paused. “I want Sonya out of SeaCloud Villa. I can’t stand seeing her!”
“I can talk to my mother, but SeaCloud Villa is Reynolds property. Do you think I can make her move?”
“I don’t care, you figure it out!”
Julian Jennings sighed.“My stomach hurts…”
“I have a headache too. Drink some water.”
Seraphina hung up.
Julian Jennings chuckled bitterly. As he tried to stand, pain intensified; he collapsed, unconscious.

Sonya, after her morning run, received flower delivery.

She carried a bouquet of roses inside, taking a selfie to send to Henry. He’d ordered a year’s worth–a daily delivery.
“Why roses?”
“Because I’m going to start pursuing you.”
Sonya smiled, remembering his words.
At the gate, she saw Julian Jennings.
“What now?”
Julian Jennings, feeling awful,
saw
Sonya vibrant,
like the roses she held.
“I want you and Henry to move out of this villa.”
Sonya was speechless.
“You’re right. We broke up; we shouldn’t see each other daily. You move. Leave Seraphina and me in peace.”
