-Chapter 94: Sean’s Descent into Madness.
Sophia suddenly felt compelling need to know if she resembled
Anna.
She didn’t want to suspect that Sean married her, loved her, and treated her so well because of some similarity between her and Anna. But she still needed to know if they were alike.
“Not at all,” Aunt Sterling said without hesitation. “You two are polar opposites. You’re cheerful, -gentle, and kind; she was cold, sharp, and resentful towards everyone. And you don’t look alike at all. You’re like an angel; she was like…”
Aunt Sterling struggled to find a word to describe Anna.
“She was

“I’m not wearing it! Don’t chase me!”
“Just get lost!”

he descended.
Sean ran downstairs, Leo chasing after him. Downstairs, Leo grabbed him, and they tussled.
Despite his reluctance, Sean was forced to wear a talisman Leo had gotten from a temple.
“May Buddha bless you, ward off evil, and ensure your safety.” Leo bowed to the talisman, then tucked it into Sean’s shirt, warning him, “Wear it every day, even when sleeping and showering.”
Sean kicked him, then beckoned Sophia to go home.
Leo saw them off, continuing his warnings.
Sean wanted to cover his ears. “Leo, please shut up!”
Sophia laughed, leaning against Sean. Their bond was undeniable.
Back home, Sean immediately removed the talisman but carefully placed it in a drawer. I’ll put it back on when I see him again to avoid his nagging.
avoid his nagging, Sean said. “He’s worried about you,” Sophia said softly.
“He’s crazy; him.”
he said I’m possessed. He’s the one who’s possessed. Whatever, I won’t bother with
That night, Sophia woke up suddenly. Sean wasn’t beside her.
Leaving the restaurant, Aunt Sterling had told her to keep a close eye on Sean; he might seem normal, but he could be faking it.
Sophia got up, quietly opening the door to find Sean on the balcony, wearing only a thin pajama top, leaning against the wall, smoking heavily.
The flickering cigarette illuminated his sharp, cold face; in the darkness, his face blended with the night.
He seemed to be staring into the distance or perhaps at nothing at all, lost in thought or perhaps empty–minded.
He finished one cigarette and immediately lit another, as if needing it to survive, unable to stop. He was faking it; he hadn’t fully recovered.

Sophia stood there for a long time, finally sighing, quietly stepping back, then calling out, “Honey, where are you? I’m thirsty.”
She thought she would have to call out several times to bring him back. But as soon as she finished, Sean responded.
I’m here. I’ll get you some water!” His voice.
some water! His voice was hoarse, tinged with panic.
By the time Sophia reached the small living room, Sean had extinguished his cigarette and returned from the balcony, relieved that she hadn’t noticed.
He poured her a cup of hot water, letting it cool slightly.
Sophia shook her head, refusing the cup. He then hugged her, feeding her sips of water.
Sophia, after drinking, hugged his neck.

Sean kissed her forehead and lifted her into his arms. Then I’ll sleep with you.”
“Okay.”
Back in bed, Sophia nestled into Sean’s arms. Looking up, she saw he was still awake. She pursed her lips and kissed his chin.
“What’s wrong?” he asked.
“Honey…”
“Yes?”
“I can’t sleep,” she said, her hand reaching inside his clothes.
Sean grabbed her hand, his breath catching. “Not tonight.”
“Why?”
I’m afraid…”
“Afraid of what?”
“Afraid I can’t control myself, that I’ll hurt you.”
Sophia bit his chin hard. “You won’t hurt me. You wouldn’t dare.”
Sean tensed, but under Sophia’s persistent advances, he surrendered, pinning her beneath him, his touch urgent and passionate.
The next morning, Sophia held him, refusing to let him get up.
“I need to go to work,” he coaxed.
“Stay with me today, okay?” she pouted.
“But I have an important meeting.”
“The company won’t collapse if you miss one meeting.”
Sean kissed her tenderly.“Fine, I won’t go to work today. But what do you want me to do?” Sophia thought for a moment, her eyes lighting up.“Let’s repaint the old house!”
After breakfast, they went to the old house.
The old windows and doors had been replaced, the inside and outside cleaned, but the walls were

severely damaged and needed repainting. The paint was ready. Sophia, experienced in this mixed the paint and showed Sean how to paint.
Sean had never done this before; his first attempts were disastrous, but Sophia didn’t criticize, instead praising his improvement.
Sophia went into the inner room to paint. After a while, hearing no noise, she went out to find Sean sitting on the steps, smoking. She noticed his hand trembled as he held the cigarette.
Honey, you’re slacking off!” she pretended to be angry.
Sean immediately extinguished

Sean nodded. “A little.”
Sophia kissed him.“Still tired?”

Sean smiled.“Want to try a few more kisses?”
Sophia put down her brush, throwing herself into his arms, kissing him enthusiastically. Sean laughed, dodging her kisses.
After playing around, they sat back–to–back on the old sofa in the main room. No need for words; just being close was enough.
For the next few days, Sophia kept Sean company at the old house.
She called Mr. Reynolds at the company, taking a “honeymoon” leave.
He trusted her implicitly, readily agreeing.
After a few days, Sean finally returned to his cheerful self, no longer sneaking out at night to smoke, sleeping soundly. Sophia was finally at ease.
One morning, Sophia went out to take out the trash and saw Jake sitting in front of her house. As soon as she opened the door, he stood up.
“Sophia, you need to leave Sean immediately. He’s dangerous!”
Sophia took a deep breath. It felt like stepping in dog poop first thing in the morning Ignoring Jake, she walked towards the trash cans.
I’m doing this for your own good! I’m worried about you!” Jake yelled after her. Sophia threw away her trash and went back home.
“Sophia, are you even listening? I sent people to America to investigate him. You don’t know what kind of person he is. He… he’s killed people. He’s been to jail!”
