Chapter 95: Bullied to Tears
Sophia didn’t believe a word Jake said.
She reached her doorstep, but Jake blocked her way.
“If you stay with him, you’ll get hurt! Believe me, leave him, divorce him! Don’t worry about him retaliating: I’ll protect you. 1, Jake Jennings, will do anything to keep you safe!” “Sophia was speechless. Was Sean some kind of vicious criminal? Who needed protection from him?
She looked up to dismiss Jake, but Sean emerged from the house, his eyes cold, a sinister smile playing on his lips. As he approached, Jake, hearing the footsteps, instinctively took a step back. “Weren’t you
you going to
to protect my wife?” Sean asked, raising an eyebrow. Jake, remembering his promises to Sophia, took two steps forward, confronting Sean. I know about the things you did in America!”
“What did I do?” Sean asked, feigning curiosity.
“You know what you did!
“I really don’t.”
Jake gritted his teeth.“I warn you, you must divorce Sophia immediately. I can’t watch you hurt her! If you refuse, I’ll expose everything, and we’ll see if you still have the face to show yourself!* Sophia rubbed her temples. Jake was actually threatening Sean. Was this a joke?
Sean’s smile vanished; he walked closer to Jake.
You want me to divorce. my wife?”
“Yes!” Jake insisted.
Sean nodded, his eyes darkening. In an instant, he punched Jake.
Jake tried
tried to block it, but the punch was too strong; he was sent sprawling.
“Sean, for Sophia, I’ll fight you!”
Jake yelled, rising to his feet, only to be knocked down again by Sean’s swift kick
He landed hard, hitting his mouth, spitting out blood.
“I… I can’t fight you, but I have ways to separate you from Sophia,” Jake glared at Sean.
Sean scoffed.“Don’t like fighting? Prefer a different kind of battle?”
He nodded, pulling out his phone and making a call. “Manager Li, the Chengxi project–I want Jennings removed immediately.”
“Sean!” Jake was startled.
Sean looked down at Jake, sneering. Contract signed? Find a reason to void it. Losses? Whose losses? Reynolds Corp can find other partners; many companies would kill for a partnership with ús. As for Jennings… their losses are none of my concern.”
Hanging up, Sean looked at Jake with mocking amusement.
San, you’re scared! Scared of me exposing your deeds, so you’re using these underhanded-
tactics to threaten me. I…” Before Jake could finish, his phone rang.
Chapter
Jake’s face turned pale. After a moment’s hesitation, he answered.
“What are you panicking about? Reynolds Corp broke its promise; it won’t have good results! How could it go bankrupt? Jennings is financially sound! What? So much debt? Reynolds Corp is lifeline! You Want me to beg Sean? You want me to beg him? You….”
Whatever the other person said, Jake angrily hung up, then, speechless with rage, paced the ground.
“Sean watched him with amusement.
“You’re going too far! We can settle this privately. Why are you trying to ruin my family?”
Sean shrugged. “Hey, don’t cry. I can’t stand a grown man crying.”
“I’m not crying!”
If you’re not crying, why are your eyes red?”
“Î……”
וי
Jake didn’t think he was crying, but when he wiped his eyes, they were indeed wet.
“I… I wasn’t thinking clearly. What I said was nonsense.”
Sean narrowed his eyes. “You’ve never been clear–headed!”
“I shouldn’t have talked nonsense to Sophia. I… I won’t again.” “Anything else?”
“I’m sorry.”

To who?”
Jake took a deep breath, turning to Sophia. Sophia, I’m sorry. I won’t bother you anymore.”
shook Sophia
her head wearily, ignoring him and

inside.
After Sophia went inside, Sean followed. They looked at each other, finding the situation both absurd and frustrating.
“If he bothers you again, I’ll send him to a mental hospital. Let the doctors fix his brain!” Sophia patted him.“Alright, don’t bother with him.”
Sean hugged Sophia and kissed her.
“I wasn’t angry at first, but he wanted us to divorce.”
“His words are useless.”
“I just got angry. Anyone who says that, I’ll be angry.”
“Me too.”
They smiled at each other, then Sean happily continued kissing her.
Okay, you should go to work today.”
After several days off, Sean had to return to work.
He told Sophia to eat breakfast; he went upstairs to change. Opening his closet, he found a red
box under his clothes.
Where did this box come from? Did he put it there?

Sean picked up the lightweight box. It seemed empty. Hesitantly, he opened it, finding photograph–or rather, half a photograph.
The photo showed him in a beanie and thick down jacket, standing in the snow, with towering glaciers behind him and two penguins at his feet.
This was… Antarctica?
Had he been there? But why did he have no memory of it?
He
was clearly hugging someone, but the photo was torn. Who was the person beside him?
Seeing Sean hadn’t come down, Sophia called out to him. A moment later, he appeared, his expression troubled.
“Honey, are you feeling unwell?” Sophia asked.
Sean shook his head, approaching Sophia and kissing her.
“Wait for me tonight.”
Sophia kissed him back.“Sorry, Vivian’s show started filming. I have to go to the island for a few days. I promised her.”
Sean nodded. “I’ll visit you on
the weekend.”
“Okay.”

After Sean left, Sophia packed a small bag and set off for the island. As soon as she boat, Yang sister greeted her.
“Madam, we’ve been waiting for you.”
Sophia hugged Yang sister.“Long time no see.”
“Yes, it’s been half a year. Madam, let’s go. Your room is ready.”
The main villa was occupied by the film crew, so Sophia stayed in the adjacent bungalow; this time, she had a private room, meticulously prepared.
After settling in, Sophia went to the main building to find Chloe. Filming was in progress. As she reached the entrance, she was bumped by a girl with blonde hair rushing out. The girl turned, and Sophia gasped.
“Anna!”
