Chapter 11
Mr. Pierce wasn’t just stubborn he was also foolish.
Not only was he blind to my disgust, but he actually believed I still had feelings for him.
After that slap, he suddenly became overly attentive.
He started showing excessive concern for Riley
His attention in one day exceeded what he’d shown in a month before.
Unfortunately, Riley wasn’t buying any of it – she was so frightened she threw away the phone watch he gave her.
When Mr. Pierce couldn’t reach Riley, he started constantly contacting his mother.
He even mode rare visits home to care for the elderly.
Every day he worked silently, just begging her to put in a good
Sadly, his mother wasn’t moved and refused to help.
word for him.
When I hoard all this from Mrs. Eleanor Pierce, I felt nothing but emptiness.
Once you stop caring, no matter what they do, you can only feel disgust – it’s hard to fool anything else.
Now, I just want a smooth divorce and to gradually recover the use of my hands, to give Riley an increasingly better life. After ignoring him for four days, he showed up at my corporate office.
He got hired as my assistant, following me around all day.
Silently counting down the one weak left in the divorce waiting period, I repeatedly ignored his existence.
Yet he kept forcing his presence on me.
When he interrupted my client instruction session one more time, I finally snapped, my face dark with anger
“Mr. Pierce, why do you keep destroying my life? What exactly do you want?”
“Who do you think you are? Do you think this makes you look gentlemanly or dominant?”
“Let me tell you – I find it disgusting and absolutely irritating!”
Mr. Pierce hung his head, his voice choked with emotion.
“Ace, does it really have to end like this?”
“We’ve been together for seven years, I was wrong, but seven years of love can’t be erased so easily”
“I don’t want this, Ace. I regret everything. I’ve realized you’re the one I truly love – I was blind before, I was wrong.. “Please, give me one more chance. Let’s start over.”
I couldn’t even be bothered to mock him anymore.
With a cold expression, I pulled off my arm sleeve, revealing the ugly, worm–like scars underneath.
I held it up in front of his face.
“Mr. Pierce, disgusting, isn’t it? Familiar?”
“I wonder if you remember how I got those scars.”
“Seven years ago, when you said you’d forget her, I married you immediately. Six years ago, when you had that accident during exploration, I went crazy searching the mountain with these hands to dig you out. When the landslide nearly sent you off the cliff, I sacrificed my right hand to pull you back.”
“And how did you repay me? Seven years of marriage, seven years of emotional affairs, and finally, you destroyed my hands for your Moonlight and put our child in the ICU.”
“Tell me, how am I supposed to forgive that?”
I thought I’d made myself clear enough.
At least Mr. Pierce’s eyes were red now, his hands trembling.
He tried to reach for my arm, and I didn’t move
But just as he was about to touch me, I said: “Weren’t you disgusted by it?”
Suddenly, he froze in place.
After a long moment, he couldn’t take it anymore. Leaving only a “sorry,” he fled in shame
Mr. Pierce still hadn’t completely given up.
