Chapter 4
He snatched his coat from my hands and left without hesitation.
Even as our son wailed behind him, he never looked back.
That was the night I realized–when a man stops loving you, his heart turns to stone.
But later, Caroline got caught messing around with her gym trainer while she was pregnant.
It caused complications, and she ended up miscarrying.
Yet in front of Daniel, she sobbed pitifully and claimed that I had pushed her-
That I had deliberately caused her miscarriage.
That night, Daniel had stormed into the house in a rage, slapping me repeatedly before I could even explain.
Then, without hesitation, he had me sent to the private estate–locked away to reflect on my sins.
Less than two months later, Caroline had me killed.
And Daniel… he never knew.
He never wanted to know.
Now, Jack stood by my side, defending me.
And it enraged Daniel.
He swung his hand, slapping Jack hard across the face.
Jack was only six–how could he possibly withstand the force?
The blow sent him sprawling right in front of my grave.
Daniel’s gaze was ice–cold.
“Jack, how many times have I told you? That is your Aunt Caroline. Where did you learn to spe rudely?”
“You really take after your mother–just as irritating.”

Chapter 4
Then, without another glance at Jack, Daniel turned and gently comforted Caroline,
The moment Jack had called her out, she had started crying.
And Daniel, blinded by devotion, wiped away her tears with the tenderness of a lover.
“Caroline, I promised to protect you. No one is allowed to bully you,”
“Not even my own son.”
Then, he turned back and kicked Jack in the stomach,
His brows furrowed,
“Jack, kneel and apologize to your Aunt Caroline.”
Caroline feigned kindness,
“Daniel, he’s still so young. Don’t be so harsh on him.”
“If he dislikes me, it must be because I did something wrong. It’s not his fault…”
The softer her voice, the colder Daniel’s gaze grew,
Jack didn’t move.
So Daniel kicked him again.
“Are you deaf?”
“Apologize to your Aunt Caroline!”
Daniel truly adored Caroline, treating her like his most precious treasure.
When she was diagnosed with kidney failure, some spiritual master had claimed it was karma–retribution for all the terrible things she had done.
Daniel had been so furious that he crippled the man on the spot.
And now, just because my son disrespected her, he was forcing him to kneel and apologize.
But Jack was just as stubborn as I was.
His little fists clenched, his eyes rimmed red.
“I won’t!” He shouted. “She’s the one who killed my mother!”

Caroline’s face twisted in shock.
Dantel stiffened, slowly turning back to look at his son.
“What did you just say?”
Even I was stunned.
How did Jack know the truth about my death?
Before he could explain, Caroline forced out a laugh, stepping forward to smooth things over.
“Daniel, don’t take a child’s words seriously.”
“Jack must miss his mother too much, that’s why he’s saying things like this. I won’t hold it against him. and you shouldn’t either.”
But Jack burst into tears and shoved her away with all his might.
“You evil woman! Stay away from my mom!”
It was as if he could sense my presence, clinging desperately to the small mound of dirt.
“I know… I know my mom is dead!”
“She came to me in a dream two years ago! She said she was so cold underground… that her face was covered in dirt… even her mouth was full of sand…”
“She said she was in so much pain… that someone pushed her down the stairs and left her to die…”
Jack sobbed uncontrollably, as if he had truly seen me.
Suddenly, I remembered-
Two years ago, I had been overwhelmed with longing for my son.
I couldn’t resist sneaking into his dream, just to see him one last time.
After that brief moment together, I thought he would forget.
But he hadn’t.
He had remembered everything.
Caroline pretended to stumble from Jack’s push, falling hard to the ground.
Her hands scraped against the rough dirt, breaking the skin.
Daniel’s expression instantly darkened.
He rushed forward, heart aching with concern as he helped her up.
“Caroline, are you okay?”
Then, he glared at Jack
“You ungrateful brat. You’re just as lowly as your mother. I should have thrown both of you out long ago.”
A smug glint flashed in Caroline’s eyes, but she didn’t forget to play the victim.
“Daniel, Jack is still so young. If no one teaches him properly, how would he know better?”
Then, she shed another pitiful tear.
“I don’t even know what I did wrong for Chloe to hate me so much… She must have poisoned Jack’s mind against me, making him despise me…
