Chapter 7
Chapter 7
“It’s just a shame about my kidney failure…”
“Daniel… I probably won’t be able to stay with you for much longer…”
Finally, a flicker of emotion appeared on Daniel’s rigid face.
He gently pulled her into an embrace.
“Don’t worry. I’ll find another kidney match for you.”
Caroline smiled in satisfaction.
Her kidney failure was a lie.
But Daniel’s love for her was real.
But before Daniel could find a suitable kidney donor, an unexpected visitor appeared at the Emerson
estate.
It was the drunkard from the private estate–the one who had guarded my grave.
He had come specifically to see Daniel.
And he handed him a piece of evidence.
“Everything you need to know is in here.”
“The truth about how Miss Reid died.”
This time, the drunkard was completely sober.
No liquor bottle in hand.
No drunken stupor.
He had waited three years for this moment.
Daniel frowned at him. “Who are you? Were you Chloe’s friend? Why are you helping her?”
The drunkard let out a bitter laugh.
“I told you–she saved my life.”

The drunkard landed over a USB drive.
Daniel didart go home.
Instead, he booked a hotel room, plugged the USB into his laptop, and hit play.
An hour later.
Daniel sat there, his entire body ice cold
His hands and feet had gone numb.

His face had turned deathly pale.
“Caroline Brantley*
Floating beside him, I could see it all.
The footage in the video–the security camera recordings from the villa.
It captured everything
Caroline had caused her own miscarriage at the gym, then falsely accused me of pushing her.
Furious, Daniel had thrown me out of our home and imprisoned me in the private estate.
He had taken away my freedom.
I wasn’t allowed to step outside the villa.
Food was delivered at scheduled times.
Two months later, Caroline had stormed into the villa.
She had tricked me into going up to the fifth–floor balcony, claiming she wanted to talk.
She had looked me in the eyes and declared her intention to become Mrs. Emerson.
Then, the moment I let my guard down-

She shoved me off the balcony
Right before I fell, she called Daniel
She had wanted me to hear his voice.
And I had.
His voice had been gentle, doting.
“Have you eaten yet, baby?”
At that exact moment-
The wind had roared in my ears.
And I had plunged down.
Like a bird with its wings broken.
I had thought I would die immediately.
Looking back now, it would have been better if I had.
But I had survived.
Crippled.
And Caroline hadn’t been satisfied.
She had hired men to violate me.
And when they were done-
She had buried me alive.
The entire thing… had been recorded.
Caroline had known about the security footage.
But she had been so confident it wouldn’t be used against her that she had simply paid a fortune to it destroyed.
She had never expected that the drunkard would spend his last penny to buy that footage.
Just so one day, he could avenge me.
Chapter 7
That night, Daniel didn’t go home.
Instead, he stormed into the private estate with his bodyguards.
Many of his informants were stationed there.
For three years, his bodyguards had suggested sending more men to watch over me.
Even if it was just to monitor me.
But Daniel had refused.
He had scoffed, saying it wasn’t worth wasting extra manpower on me.
But now-
He regretted it.
He regretted it so much it was driving him insane.
When he arrived at the private estate, he questioned his informants.
They were shocked to see him.
It had been three years since their boss had last set foot here.
They had assumed he didn’t care whether his wife was dead or alive.
But now, he was red–eyed and desperate, demanding to know everything.
That was when he learned-
Two months after I was imprisoned, Caroline had come.
