Chapter 1
I saved Liam Carter, an antagonist in a book, and voluntarily stayed there as an NPC.
As it was against the rules in the book, it would be hard for me to get pregnant.
Liam, however, was having a baby with someone else.
I chuckled self–deprecatingly and asked him, “If you had to choose between me and the baby, what would you do?”
Liam lowered his head and then rasped with red eyes, “Do I have to choose?”
I nodded, and he remained silent.
At that moment, I decided to leave him and return to my own world.
Sports car was Liam’s favorite, but this week when he came to pick me up from work, he had
switched to a van.
I found it strange, so I casually asked him why.
To my surprise, he frowned and glanced at the car, saying, “I bought it for you and our future kids.”
Upon hearing what he said, I lowered my head with guilt.
I wanted to tell him perhaps we would never have kids–a punishment for breaking the rules.
But the moment I looked down, I found a baby pacifier under the car seat.
With trembling hands, I took it out and asked, “What’s this?”
He turned and glanced at it, a glint of panic in his eyes.
Then he pulled up at the roadside and took the pacifier from my hand, saying, “It’s nothing, just…”
Before he finished speaking, I cut him off in rage.
“I wanna hear the truth.”
His hand, which was holding the pacifier, trembled a bit. A hint of frustration flashed in his eyes as
he told me, “It was an accident.”
The last glimmer of hope in my heart extinguished after he finished his words.
“So you really cheated on me and knocked someone up?”
I felt a lump in my throat, tears welling up in my eyes as I turned and looked at him.

Just as his hand was about to touch mine, I pushed it away and got out of the car.
Right after I closed the door, his phone rang. By the time I turned around, all I saw was the exhaust
fumes of the car.
He left me alone on a snowy day.
I walked and walked until I passed out due to the cold.
When I opened my eyes again, I was already lying in the ambulance.
I couldn’t help but recall our past.
Back then, I successfully redeemed Liam, who was once an antagonist in a book.
Since I fell in love with him, I was unwilling to leave, so I was punished by the system.
At first, I thought infertility wouldn’t become a barrier between us.
Liam also reassured me that he would never betray me just because I couldn’t bear him a child.
I used to believe he would love me forever.
But today, I realized that his promise was just a lie.
The ambulance stopped at the entrance of the hospital. After the medical staff wheeled me down from the ambulance, I saw Liam.
He was carefully supporting a young pregnant woman, his eyes filled with nervousness.
He had always been calm and composed. I had never seen such a look in his eyes apart from the day
he proposed to me.
At this thought, my mind was in turmoil.
As soon as Liam saw me, he let go of the woman’s hand and awkwardly walked towards me.
He supported the stretcher and asked nervously, “What happened?”
I snapped and asked him with a hoarse voice, “You left me alone in the snow. Did it ever cross your mind that I would get sick?”
He rubbed my hand in self–reproach and apologized to me.
Just then, the woman standing behind him walked over, one hand resting on her belly.
Her eyes were firm and confident.
“Mrs. Carter, it’s all my fault. If it weren’t for the child, I wouldn’t have let Mr. Carter come to pick

me up.”
As soon as the woman finished speaking, Liam immediately shouted at her.
“You have no right to speak.”
The woman, however, did not back down. She held onto her belly, adding, “Blame me if you must. He only agreed to let me keep it because of my pleading.
“He just pitied me, that’s all.”
Upon hearing this, I felt my whole body trembling.
Pushing aside Liam’s hand supporting the stretcher, I struggled to my feet.
Just as I had taken a few steps, Liam grabbed my hand and said, “If you’re angry, take it out on me.
Don’t risk your health.”
The woman suddenly rushed over, trying to help him stop me.
I pushed her away, and she lost her balance, screaming.
Liam, snapping back to reality, pushed me away and stopped her from falling.
When he turned around, there was a hint of anger on his face.
“Evelyn, vent your anger on me if you want. Leave the baby alone.”
How affectionate!
As I listened to his remarks, I realized something–it was over between us.
