Chapter 146
Sabrina’s POV:
My heart sank more and more the nearer we got to my room.
I had a sinking feeling that Caldan would want us to have sex tonight. Especially after the “bonding” Time we had at the date.
Safe to say, I wasn’t ready for it.
ven though I had come to terms with it in the past. I knew that when he asked me to date him, sex would be part of it. I mean, that’s part of a normal relationship. And I had told myself that I might have sex with him if he wants to, as gratitude for all his help towards me so far. But the bigger reason was that I wanted to get over the king as soon and as fast as possible. And Caldan was my one way ticket.
He treated me well. He was incredibly handsome and soft spoken. Women naturally were attracted to him. He was the perfect man.
But after tonight’s conversation, I’m not sure I can ever look at him the same.
I feel creeped out. And honestly scared. Those things he had said with a face full of smiles …how could I ever hope to forget?
I needed space. Space to think. And if I have sex with him, my judgment would be clouded.
“Rina,” Caldan’s voice drew me from my spiraling thoughts. I turned to him. He gestured to a door. “You’ve passed your room.”
My cheeks turned pink with embarrassment. “Ah. I’m sorry.” I retraced my steps and walked up to the door of my room.
I grabbed the doorknob and was about to open it when I felt his eyes on me still. I turned around and came face to face with him. He reached out and cupped both sides of my face. I held his hand to pull him off my but I didn’t budge.
“Wan’t you invite me in?” He asked, his tone low and sultry.
I was right.
Caldan I… I’m very tired.” I said softly. “I think I’ll go to bed right away*
He leaned closer to me, my back pressed up against the wall. Tm so sorry,” He whispered. “A kiss? Would you let me kiss you?”
“Caldan…”
My heart thumped furiously in my chest. He has me caged between the door and his body. I can feel the heat emanating from his body. His eyes are so intense and vibrant. I feel like I’m being hypnotized.
“Yes.” I whispered. And that was all it took.
His lips met mine in a rough kiss. My hands grabbed his sleeves to steady myself as he kissed me. I felt my eyes prick with tears. I couldn’t breath. Every instinct 1 possessed told me to run.
His lips kissed my chin and he began to move down my neck. He sucked on a sensitive spot on my neck, hard.

I walked out of the palace and headed to the gardens. The night was chilly but very peaceful. The sy Inered with million of glittering stars that looked like the diamonds I wore today.
I walked leisurely for a while, then I spotted a large tree. There was a blanket under it, I guess someone must have forgotte it. I walked closer to the tree and sat down under it. And my thoughts just flowed
Xathler’s POV:
Ipadn’t considered it at first because I was too focused on getting Caldan out of my hair. But I could also leave the palace I packed together a small bag, I had decided to leave the palace for a few days, give myself some time to rest and recover wasn’t sure how much longer I could continue staying here with Sabrina and Caldan when it was getting increasingly difficult to control myself around her.
“My king are you sure about this?” Nifra asked from where she stood by the door.
“Nifra it’s only for a few days. I’ll be back soon.”
“But is this the best choice to take?”
The other choice is to send Caldan away. But he’ll go with Sabrina and I can’t have that. So no.
“There’s none.” I said. I picked up the bag and turned to her. “Will you miss me?”
Her eyes went wide and she struggled for what to say, I laughed to myself

I ich my room and headed out of the palace. On my way out, I spotted a curious sight. Sabrina sat under a large oak tree in
he ganden, looking lost and staring into space.
Pontemplated going to talk to her or continuing on my way as if I hadn’t seen her.
Why does she look so sad? Didn’t the date to as planned? Caldan has told me that they had a date today. He looked so proud of himself like he wanted to flaunt his relationship in my face. It took a lot of self control not to punch him in that moment.
Adate. At the back of my mind I hoped it had gone terribly and she was beginning to rethink her relationship with him.
Ah shit. I can’t stay away from her.
I made my way over to her. I fully expected that she would take one look at me, get up and walk away. But instead she stare at me and looked away quietly,
“What do you want?” She asked,
“You know, when approached by their king other would get up and bow to him”
She didn’t say anything. There was no movement in her body apart from her hair billowing in the soft breeze. Their was a cloud of despair around her. And I wasn’t angry she didn’t bow to me.
“What are you doing here out in the night?” I asked with a sigh.
“That’s none of your business.” She said, her tone lacking it’s usual bite. Then she sighed and her shoulders dropped. “I needed to clear my head.”
Wow. I’m surprised Caldan let you leave his bed.”
“For heavens sake.” She gasped in exasperation. She jumped to her feet and dusted her clothes off. She turned to leave and quickly grabbed her wrist. “Let me go.”
I pulled her closer to me and pushed her into the tree, holding her by her waist. She brought her hands up and shoved at 1 chest, her body struggling under my hold.
“Let me go!” She hissed fiercely and hit my chest
I should let her go. I really should. Instead I grabbed both her hands and pinned them to her chest. She went still, her breaths ragged. My eyes moved from her eyes down to her lips, and my breath caught in my throat.
“Sabrina,” I whispered her name softly, my breaths coming our ragged. She opened her mouth to say something and purs her lips. Her breaths felt hot on my lips. Scalding hot. I became aware of her scent. Her warmth. The softness of her body pressed up against mine. And my head spun.
This is a bad idea. For fucks sake I should stop getting close to her like this.

Chapter 146
I took a step back from her an released her arms. “You can go now.”
She made no move to leave.
I turned to walk out and continue on my journey when I felt a tug on my shirt from behind. I turned around to see her. The sight of her caused my heart to stop, and when start racing.
Her eyes were wide and shiny with unshed tears. She gripped my shirt tight with both hands, even as she trembled.
“My king,” she said, and I felt a thrill run down my spine. Her voice was so soft and gentle that I feared she might start crying. “Did you…did you really not think about me for once when I was away?”
linked in shock. She took a step closer, her eyes beseeching me.
“Please. Tell me. Did you think about me? Even once. Just once?”
