Chapter 37
Maggie shook her head with a smile. “It’s nothing.”
At that point, Julia had already returned to her seat, and Franklin and the others no longer
paid attention to her.
Maggie continued to chat with Professor Nolan.
After a while, when Professor Nolan left, Maggie took a sip of her drink and, when she
looked noticed Levi looking at her with an ambiguous smile.
up,
As for Franklin, he was facing away from her.
When he saw her glance over, Levi raised his eyebrows and gave her a subtle nod, lifting his wine glass towards her.
Maggie frowned, not understanding what Levi meant.
He seemed to sneer at her, then quickly shifted his gaze away, no longer paying attention to
her.
Maggie suddenly realized what was going on.
It was likely that he thought she and Johnny had bullied Julia, and now Levi was trying to signal her that this matter wasn’t over.
Maggie furrowed her brow.
Half an hour later, after the host of the banquet had been busy with guests, he finally
returned.
After some pleasantries, he asked Johnny, “Do you know that Miss Brown?”
The “Miss Brown” he referred to was, of course, Julia Brown.

Johnny smiled. “Sort of, why?”
“Earlier in the conversation, I found out a bit. I heard she’s not from D city but from L City.
Her family’s business is doing quite well there, and they’re fairly well–known, but here in the capital, they’re just a small family – especially when compared to Wilson family, Becker family, and Davis family, they really don’t stand out.”
Johnny raised an eyebrow. “So?”
“Well, families like hers usually have a hard time getting into our circle. As for the big
families like Wilson, they wouldn’t even entertain the thought.
But Miss Brown, she easily mingled with the core circle and even became close with them. Quite impressive.”
“I was wondering why Franklin suddenly showed up at my banquet, but then I realized it
was because he was introducing people to Miss Brown.”
“Since Franklin personally helped her build connections and brought along Harry and the
others, it shows that he’s serious about Miss Brown. Otherwise, if she were just a plaything,
Franklin wouldn’t go so far.”
“With Franklin paving the way, the Brown family is likely going to soar in the future.”
Johnny and Maggie both listened without speaking.
The host, feeling envious, sighed, “To have a daughter like that, the Brown family really
must have hit the jackpot. It’s truly enviable.”
After the conversation, Maggie raised her gaze and saw that Franklin and the others had
already left the banquet hall. It seemed they had left early.
Even though she was there, Franklin never gave her a single glance.
Half an hour later, Maggie and Johnny also left.
When they got home, her phone rang – it was Franklin calling.

Maggie paused for a moment,
Was he coming to reprimand her? Did he think she and Johnny had bullied julia?
Since Levi had warned her earlier, it was likely that Franklin already had the same idea.
Two seconds later, she calmly answered the phone, “Hello,”
Franklin’s voice was cold. “Come back.”
Maggie hesitated for a moment, then replied, “If there’s something, just say it.”
“Bella has a fever and wants to see you.”
Without another word, he hung up.
Maggie was stunned for a second, then grabbed her car keys, put on her shoes, and left.
Arriving at the villa, she went upstairs immediately, not seeing Franklin, but she didn’t pay it much attention. She headed straight for their daughter’s room.
Isabella had a high fever and was receiving an IV drip, looking very uncomfortable. When
she saw her, she weakly called out, “Mom,” reaching out to be held.
Maggie noticed the needle mark on her hand and carefully picked her up, asking the nanny, Aunt Sara, “Has she eaten anything?”
“She ate a little while ago but threw it all up.”
Maggie furrowed her brow and, after asking the doctor about the situation, turned to
Isabella who was snuggling in her arms, “Are you hungry? Mommy will make you some porridge you like, and you can eat once the IV drip is finished.”
“Mm.”
In the past, whenever she fell ill, it was always Maggie who took care of her.
Other people’s porridge never tasted right to her; she only wanted the one Maggie made.

She scrunched up her little nose and asked, “Where’s Daddy? Is he not back yet?”
Maggie paused for a moment.
