Chapter 40
Perhaps because they hadn’t officially divorced yet, Franklin didn’t want to disturb the
elderly lady and hadn’t had anyone touch her things.
She pulled her thoughts back, took a set of pajamas and a towel, and left the master bedroom to go to Isabella’s room.
Isabella was sitting on the bed, playing with her tablet. When she saw the clothes in
Maggie’s hand, she asked curiously, “Mommy, are you going to take a bath in my room?”
Maggie replied, “Mmm.”
She hadn’t been in the bathroom for long when Franklin entered Isabella’s room.
When he saw her glance towards the bathroom, Isabella said, “Mommy is taking a shower
inside.”
Franklin, “Mhm.”
He then asked, “Did you ask your mommy to take a shower here?”
“No, Mommy brought her own clothes over.”
Franklin didn’t ask further. He spoke a few more words to her and told her to rest early
before turning to leave.
In the bathroom, Maggie heard some noise, knowing that Franklin had arrived, but she
couldn’t make out what they were saying.
Isabella was still recovering from her illness. After taking medicine, she was prone to
drowsiness. Seeing that it was getting late, Maggie decided to lie down beside her on the bed
after finishing her shower.
Isabella nestled into her arms and rubbed her cheek against Maggie’s shoulder. “Mommy,
you smell so good and feel so soft.”

Chapter 40
She felt that being in Mommy’s arms was the most comfortable place.
It was even more comfortable than Aunt Julie’s arms.
However, knowing that Maggie didn’t like Julia, she didn’t say that out loud.
Isabella quickly fell asleep.
Maggie, too, was tired and soon drifted off as well.
Ever since Isabella fell ill, she developed a habit of kicking the covers off.
Maybe it had become a worry, but Maggie still took care of her just like she used to. She woke up several times throughout the night, carefully covering her up each time to make
sure she didn’t catch a cold before going back to sleep herself.
That night, Maggie didn’t sleep well, but she woke up as soon as it was dawn.
Isabella was still asleep. Maggie quietly got out of bed and looked out the window. She saw
that Franklin was indeed running downstairs.
He usually ran for about an hour before coming back.
After washing up, Maggie changed into some clothes and went downstairs to the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
Half an hour later, she handed the remaining tasks over to Aunt Sara. After confirming that
Isabella didn’t have a fever anymore, she went upstairs to grab her bag and car keys before
leaving.
Not long after she left, Isabella woke up.
She looked around but didn’t find Maggie and asked, “Where’s Mommy?”
Aunt Sara answered, “Madam has gone out for something.”
Isabella pouted. “Oh…”

Aunt Sara smiled. “But before Madam left, she already prepared breakfast for you.”
Isabella’s mood lit a little.
She wasn’t completely well yet, but she was feeling better. She was also hungry, so after washing up, she went downstairs to eat.
Not long after, Franklin came downstairs as well.
Not seeing Maggie, he paused for a moment and asked Aunt Sara, “Where’s Madam?”
“Oh, Madam went out.”
Franklin didn’t ask any more questions.
When Maggie returned home, she ate something quickly, packed up her laptop and some essentials, and was about to head to the company when the doorbell rang.
Maggie glanced at the surveillance camera at the door and saw that it was Mrs. Smith and
her daughter Tommy.
Maggie opened the door. “Mrs. Smith…”
Mrs. Smith looked anxious. “Miss Miller, Tiantian’s grandmother is sick, and I need to take her to the hospital. Could you help me take Tommy to school?”
Since Tommy and Isabella went to the same kindergarten and the school was on the way to
her company, Maggie agreed.
Twenty minutes later, when she arrived at the kindergarten, she was looking for a parking spot when she saw Franklin, Julia, and Isabella together.
Isabella looked in good spirits. She was holding hands with Julia, skipping happily as they
walked, clearly very pleased.
As for Franklin, he was standing beside Julia, carefully ensuring that they weren’t near the
traffic and crowds.

Tommy also saw Isabella, “Sister, it’s Bella!”
Maggie lowered her gaze, “Yes, Auntie saw,”
“That pretty auntie holding Bella’s hand… Is she also Bella’s mommy? Does Bella have two
mommies?”
Maggie didn’t answer, She gently patted Tommy’s head and said, “Auntie is helpin, you
today, Don’t tell Bella, okay?”
