Julia had said that Johnny had dismissed her for personal reasons. But she didn’t clarify the specifics.
Earlier, Yale had seen Maggie and Johnny embracing downstairs, so he assumed that their relationship was very close, and thus he thought Maggie must have used connections to get
into Cole.
Although their company had a lot of talent, it was rare to find someone with Julia’s impressive resume, not only in their company but nationwide as well.
He didn’t think Maggie’s background could surpass Julia’s.
As he thought this, before Maggie could say anything, he sarcastically added, “But Miss Miller looks quite young. If you didn’t know, you might even think she hasn’t finished her doctorate yet.”
Regarding the reason for not hiring Julia, Johnny had planned to find time later to discuss it
with Yale.
After all, this was a personal matter between Maggie and Julia, and it wasn’t something that should be discussed in front of so many people.
But he didn’t expect Yale to suddenly lash out.
He frowned. “Yale-”
But Yale, feeling that Johnny was trying to cover for Maggie, loudly interrupted him, “President Gray, I’m talking to Miss Miller.”
He fixed his gaze on Maggie. “Is it really that difficult to answer a simple question about your education? Or is it that Miss Miller hasn’t been accepted into a PhD program?
Or perhaps the institution you’re studying at isn’t ranked in the world’s top universities, so you feel too embarrassed to mention it?”

Maggie didn’t find it difficult to answer at all.
She calmly responded, “I haven’t been accepted into a PhD program yet, but-”
Before she could finish her sentence, Yale laughed.
He was certain that he hadn’t guessed wrong.
After all, not every woman could be as outstanding as Julia.
He snorted, not letting her finish, and mockingly said, “But? What are you trying to say? That even though you haven’t been accepted into a PhD program, your expertise isn’t
inferior to ours?
What makes you think that? Is it just because you have a pretty face and have been spoiled by sweet–talking men, so now you think you have real skills?”
When Johnny heard this, he immediately became angry. “Yale!”
Reasonable doubts were fine, but for Yale to say something like this was an outright insult
to Maggie!
How could he not be furious?
Yale took off the badge hanging around his neck. “I’m resigning.”
“You!”
Johnny didn’t expect Yale to be so impulsive.
Yale looked at Johnny. “President Gray, I always thought you valued talent and kept personal and professional matters separate. Now it seems I was wrong about you.”
After saying that, Yale turned and walked away.
Johnny was also a person with pride.
He watched Yale’s retreating figure and said, “Take some time to calm down. If you decide

“No need. I’ll never set foot in Cole again!”
Without looking back, Yale left.
Maggie, however, valued talent highly as well.
She glanced at Johnny, who shook his head, signaling her not to worry.
Yale was indeed talented, and Johnny didn’t want to waste such potential. However, from the first time he met Julia, he noticed that Yale had developed some personal feelings for
her.
This was a private matter for Yale, and Johnny hadn’t cared much about it. But now, because of Julia, Yale had gotten emotional and impulsively made a negative judgment
about Maggie’s arrival without even giving her a chance.
This had gone too far.
And since the core technology of CUAP had collaborations with the government and confidentiality agreements in place, Maggie’s identity couldn’t be exposed.
If Yale could be so rash because of Julia, and if he held Julia in such high regard, even if
Maggie later proved her abilities, Yale might never truly accept her. Instead, he might still
think that Julia could do a better job.
It was inevitable that Yale would be overshadowed by Maggie in the future.
If this became apparent to Yale and he believed it was because he was being partial to Maggie, he could easily be manipulated in the future.
