But back then, when Isabella was only three or four years old, she would often fall asleep
listening.
Now, when Isabella came over to watch, Maggie didn’t pay her much attention, continuing to focus on her work.
Isabella didn’t understand what was going on, but she suddenly realized that Aunt Julie seemed to have done similar work before…
Isabella watched for a while but soon went to bed.
Maggie didn’t finish until much later and then closed her computer.
At that point, she looked at the time and realized it was already past two in the morning.
She hadn’t returned to the master bedroom, and there was no sign of any reaction from Franklin either. Perhaps, her staying in Isabella’s room and avoiding contact with him was exactly what he wanted.
The next day, Maggie didn’t wake up early to make breakfast.
When Isabella woke up, she saw that Maggie was still asleep beside her and realized that her mother had slept in her room last night.
Seeing that Maggie hadn’t woken up yet, Isabella quietly got out of bed and left the room.
She saw Franklin and yawned, “Dad, good morning.”
Franklin: “Mm.”
“Mom’s still asleep.”
“Mm.”

By the time Maggie got up for breakfast, Franklin was almost finished eating.
There wasn’t much exchange between them, and after Franklin finished his meal, he left
for work.
Maggie left for the office at the usual time.
In the evening, she finished work on time.
When she arrived home, Isabella was already waiting in the car, but Franklin had not yet
returned.
Maggie and Isabella waited for more than twenty minutes, and Isabella frowned. “Dad’s so
slow.”
Maggie calmly read her book, not in a hurry.
At that moment, the phone in the living room rang.
A few seconds later, the butler said, “Mr. Wilson says he has something urgent and can’t come back for now. He asked you and Miss Maggie to go ahead to the hot spring resort, and he will come later.”
Maggie didn’t mind and replied, “Got it.”
Franklin said he would come later, but that night, he still hadn’t returned even by midnight.
Franklin had not shown up for a long time, which made the old lady angry, and Isabella was unhappy as well.
Maggie, however, remained calm, making tea for the old lady with a composed expression. “Perhaps he has something urgent to handle and couldn’t get away in time.”
The old lady wasn’t in a good mood and went to bed early that night.
Isabella called Franklin several times, but he didn’t answer.

When Maggie woke up, no one was beside her.
Isabella was nowhere to be found.
After she finished washing up, she searched the house but couldn’t find anyone.
It wasn’t until she asked that she found out that because Franklin hadn’t come back, Isabella had found the place boring and asked someone to accompany her down the mountain early in the morning to go play somewhere else.
The old lady had caught a cold from the wind the night before and had a severe headache in the middle of the night. She had already returned to the old residence before Maggie
woke up.
Not wanting to disturb her rest, the old lady didn’t notify her immediately.
For a while, the entire hot spring resort was empty except for the staff, leaving only Maggie
alone.
Actually, even though Isabella found the place boring, she could have waited for Maggie to wake up and then taken her out to play.
Isabella didn’t even leave a note and quietly slipped away, likely because she wanted to join Franklin and Julia, and she was afraid that Maggie might not let her go.
That’s why she had sneaked away so early.
The weather wasn’t great that day, with rain falling, but the hot spring pools were covered, so with the weather as it was, soaking in the hot springs while reading a book with a view was quite an enjoyable experience.
