He casually asked, “Does your husband work in our field as well?”
Maggie hesitated for a moment before replying, “Sort of.”
The General Manager had talked to Maggie before about technical matters, knowing that she was very competent in her field. He assumed her husband was also in their industry
and was about to ask his name.
However, seeing that Maggiei’s expression was indifferent, as though she didn’t want to continue the conversation, he quickly dropped the topic.
Johnny, however, wanted to say, “The husband you’re talking about, Miss Miller, is none other than your company’s big boss, Franklin!”
But Maggie was about to divorce him, and there would be many more opportunities to
interact with the General Manager and others in the future.
If he said that out loud, it would likely make the General Manager and others feel awkward
about how to interact with Maggie.
Moreover, after learning her true identity, it wouldn’t be surprising if someone, in an attempt to please Julia, deliberately made things difficult for Maggie.

Maggie reluctantly took off her cotton shoes and pointed to the ankle she had injured.
Isabella crouched down to inspect it. “There’s no wound…”
It’s no longer swollen, so you can’t see anything.”
“Oh..” She said thoughtfully, “Mom, you’re all better now. But you can’t stand for too long.
I’ve already had someone prepare the meal, let’s eat first.”
“Alright.”
Isabella happily held her hand and led her to the dining room.
There were only two sets of chopsticks and bowls on the table.
Franklin’s seat was empty.
Noticing where Maggie was looking, Isabella said, “Dad said he’s busy and won’t be home for dinner tonight. It’ll just be you and me, Mom.”
Remembering how she had bumped into Franklin and Julia in the elevator earlier, Maggie thought, perhaps the reason Franklin was busy was that he was having dinner with Julia?
But she didn’t say it out loud.
As they ate, she chatted with Isabella.
Perhaps because she had given Isabella more freedom recently, Isabella had become closer to her than before. She no longer seemed impatient with her, and was much more
affectionate.
So, after dinner, Isabella asked her to help with her bath, shampoo, and blow–dry her hair.

Isabella also asked her to take her to school tomorrow,
Maggie agreed to that as well,
Since the time at the hot spring resort, she hadn’t had a proper chance to spend time with Isabella for ten days.
So, that evening, she stayed at the villa,
However, she didn’t return to the master bedroom.
She planned to sleep with Isabella instead.
last time she slept with her mother was because she had been sick.
But this time, she wasn’t sick, nor had she asked her mom to sleep with her…‘
As Maggie took a bath in her room and planned to sleep there, Isabella was puzzled. Why
didn’t she return to the room she shared with Dad?
However, she really liked sleeping with Maggie, because her mom smelled nice and soft,

But Franklin still hadn’t returned.
The next day, she found out that Franklin hadn’t come home the previous night.
The last time she saw him in the elevator, he had left with Julia.

Maggie withdrew her thoughts, took Isabella to school, and then returned to work at Cole.
Isabella’s thoughts were clearly still on Julia. Her need for Maggie was occasional–only when she hadn’t seen her in a while or when Franklin wasn’t around, and she felt bored,
would she think of her.
Otherwise, she didn’t need her.
