When Maggie heard Julia answer the phone, she wasn’t surprised. After all, Franklin and Julia had become so close, it was no longer a matter of distinction between them.
So, what was wrong with her calling Franklin?
She spoke calmly: “I’m looking for Franklin.”
Julia, aware that it was Maggie on the other side, responded coldly, “He’s taking a shower. If you have something to say, you can talk to me.”
Talk to her?
Well, this matter did indeed concern Julia.
Her uncle had indeed seen Julia’s aunt in the neighborhood, but the person who bought the
villa across from their house was likely Logan.
If Logan had bought that house, it was probably to honor Julia’s grandmother, who was
now his mother–in–law.
So, if she told Julia about this, would Julia stop her uncle’s family from moving into that
villa?
No, she wouldn’t.
Moreover, she didn’t believe Julia was unaware that her uncle’s family was planning to
move into the villa across from hers.
Therefore, telling Julia about this would be useless and might even make things worse.
Maggie remained silent and hung up the phone without further conversation.
Over an hour passed, but she still hadn’t received a call back from Franklin. She wasn’t sure
if Julia had failed to inform him about her call or if Franklin simply didn’t want to return

But this time, his phone was switched off, and she could’t yet through,
Maggie’s grip on the phone tightened in frustration,
After a moment, the calmed herself down and called the housekeeper instead, asking, “Are they at home?”
The housekeeper replied, “No, why?”
“Nothing,” Maggie responded before ending the call
That night, Maggie didn’t sleep well.
The next morning, after 9 a.m., she dialed Franklin’s number again. This time, the call went through, but it was immediately disconnected.
Maggie wasn’t sure whether it was Julia or Franklin who hung up the phone.
She didn’t want to delve into it further.
Grabbing her phone and bag, she left the house.
Soon, she arrived at Franklin’s villa.
The housekeeper greeted her warmly, “Madam, you’re back?”
“Yes,” Maggie responded,
“Would you like to have lunch here? I can have someone prepare it for you.”
“Yes, thank you,” she said.

She went upstairs. When she reached the second floor, she paused and then entered the
master bedroom.
She placed her bag down and sat on the edge of the bed.
The master bedroom was still the same, nothing had changed. However, the skincare products she had left when she stayed to accompany Isabella were now back in their
original place.
Even the clothes she had changed out of were returned to the wardrobe, neatly hanging
beside Franklin’s own clothes.
It looked as if she had never left.
She didn’t bother calling Franklin again. He still hadn’t returned her call.
She ate dinner alone.
To be honest, she had considered asking Old Lady Wilson for help, but if she involved her,
the situation might become even harder to resolve.
Besides, although Franklin respected his grandmother, whether he listened to her was entirely up to his discretion.
After dinner, she opened her laptop and resumed her work.
The night grew deeper.
Just as she thought Franklin and Isabella wouldn’t be coming back that night, the sound of a car finally broke the silence.
When Isabella got out of the car, she saw Maggie’s car and excitedly said to Franklin, “Oh,
it’s Mommy’s car! Daddy, Mommy is home!”
“Mm,” Franklin replied, glancing at Maggie’s car before entering the house with Isabella.
Isabella asked the housekeeper who was there to greet them, “Where’s Mommy?”

“Madam is upstairs.”
“Okay!” Isabella cheered and hurried up the stairs.
Maggie had just shut down her computer and packed up her things. As she stepped out of the master bedroom, Isabella ran over and jumped into her arms, hugging her tightly. “Mommy!”
“Mm.” Maggie patted her head gently, but she didn’t embrace her.
Isabella didn’t notice anything unusual and happily started talking to Maggie. At that moment, Franklin came upstairs. When their eyes met, they both paused for a moment.
Franklin’s expression was neutral, while Maggie appeared calm as well. She turned to Isabella, who was still chatting away, and said, “Let Aunt Sara help you with your bath. Mommy needs to talk to Daddy.”
Hearing this, Franklin stopped in his tracks.
Isabella had been in a good mood after playing for two days. Though she wasn’t thrilled by her mother’s request, she didn’t say anything and went back to her room, where Aunt Sara would help her wash her hair and take a bath.
Maggie looked at Franklin, who was leaning casually against the wall, fiddling with his
phone, not paying much attention to her. “Shall we talk in the room?”
