Chapter 87
As soon as she thought of this, a wave of bitterness rose in Maggie’s throat. Suddenly, the
air in the car felt thick and stuffy.
She looked away from her thoughts, intending to roll down the window for some fresh air, but paused just before pressing the button.
In the end, she didn’t open the window. Instead, she turned her head slightly and looked
out the window.
She wasn’t sure how much time passed, but soon, the car arrived at Isabella’s school.
Maggie got out of the car to accompany her inside, while Franklin stayed in the car.
“Dad…” Isabella looked back at him, clearly hoping he would get out of the car with them.
“Dad has something to do,” Franklin answered shortly.
“Oh…” Isabella’s shoulders drooped slightly, and she followed her teacher into the school.
Maggie stood by the car. Despite the lingering awkwardness, she chose not to push the
situation further. She turned toward the car and told Franklin, “You go ahead. I’ll take a taxi
to the company later.”
Franklin glanced at her briefly and said, “It’s on the way.”
Maggie hesitated. She didn’t want to ride in his car, but she also didn’t want to make a big deal of it. Since he didn’t seem to care, why should she?
In the end, she said nothing. After watching Isabella enter the school, she turned and got
back into the car.
The atmosphere in the car remained tense and silent. Franklin was still looking at his phone, and Maggie didn’t feel like breaking the silence. She opened the documents that
Johnny had sent her and became absorbed in them.

Before she knew it, the car had reached the parking lot of Cole’s office building. Maggie didn’t even notice until she heard Franklin’s voice.
“We’re here.”
She looked up to see the car stopped in front of the building. The car, a luxurious Bentley, was drawing attention from several people around.
Maggie quickly grabbed her bag and rushed to get out of the car. Not wanting to attract
unnecessary attention, she murmured, “Thank you.”
Franklin glanced at her and responded briefly with, “Mm.”
Then he instructed the driver, “Let’s go.”
The car quickly drove away. Maggie entered the company building, trying to shake off the unease lingering from the ride.
At lunch, Johnny had arranged for a business lunch with some partners, and Maggie
accompanied them.
As their car drove into the restaurant’s parking lot, Maggie spotted Franklin. He had just gotten out of his car. At the same time, Julia also emerged from his car.
Johnny parked the car and noticed them as well. He rubbed his forehead slightly and said,
“What a coincidence.”
“Mm.” Maggie responded indifferently.
At this moment, she also noticed Logan and Tracy standing nearby. They seemed to have arrived earlier and were now walking towards Franklin and Julia.
“Should we get out of the car?” Johnny asked. “Or should we wait until they leave?”
“Let’s get out,” Maggie said calmly. She didn’t feel like she had done anything wrong, so she
had no reason to avoid them.
She and Johnny got out of the car.

When Franklin and Julia saw them, they both noticed immediately.
Franklin’s expression remained calm, his gaze flicking over Maggie briefly before turning away. Julia, however, immediately coldened upon seeing her.
Maggie’s heart sank, sensing the difference in Julia’s reaction. In the past, Julia might have
been cold, but she wouldn’t show outright hostility.
Maggie suspected it had something to do with Franklin telling Julia about the arrangement regarding her uncle not staying across from her family’s house.
Indeed, Franklin had mentioned it to her, and she had agreed. But to Maggie, this wasn’t a
major issue–it was the act of seeking Franklin’s help that troubled her.
Julia clearly didn’t want to see any connection between them.
This made Julia’s expression even colder.
When Logan noticed Julia’s unusual reaction, he looked over and saw Maggie. He frowned
slightly.
Tracy, seeing the scene for the first time, couldn’t help but feel a sense of triumph. After all,
she knew how much Franklin cared about Julia. However, she didn’t dare say anything too
provocative in front of him.
Julia walked over, but instead of addressing Maggie, she went straight to Johnny.
“Mr. Gray, what a coincidence! We meet again,” Julia said with a bright smile, clearly trying
to maintain a light tone.
Johnny smiled stiffly and replied, “Yes, quite a coincidence.”
“I’ve been meaning to invite you to lunch, but I’ve been so busy lately, I just didn’t find the
time,” Julia added.
“Miss Brown, no need to be so polite,” Johnny said, his voice tinged with a hint of sarcasm. “We all know how busy you are.”
