Titan No
Chapter 21
“Ladies and gentlemen…..” Yuki Kim began as everybody settled, his eyes scanning every face in the room.
“My goodness,” Yuki goahed over the crowd, a soft low chuckle escaping his throat “I wasn’t expecting this amount of crowd. Everyone wants to have our dress in their closets right?”
People chuckled softly.
“Well, let’s acknowledge the very first person to be seated here today,” Yuki continues as his hand opens towards the first column at below him “Mr. Cain Malachi.”
My heart made a stumble. I heard my heart drum inside my chest at the call of his name. There was something about the sound of the call of his name, like it instilled fear.
“Are you okay ma’am?” Jessica’s question quickly brings back to composure.
“No, why?” I tried to hide whatever she might have seen to have triggered the question.
“Um….you looked like you’ve seen a ghost just now. And your cheeks looks….. red?” She said.
Clearing my throat, I ignore her statement and looked back towards where I assumed Cain was seated. Nooked closely to see only his bulky arms.
It’s easy to see the man seated right next to him was Mr Blogwood himself.
I didn’t know why, but merely seeing Cain’s arms from the distance made my heart hurt. And I wanted to leave the room immediately. I didn’t know what to call this feeling that have suddenly exploded in my chest.
“Alright, let’s go ahead,” Yuki’s voice breaks off my thoughts.
I didn’t know if it was the Japanese food I ate earlier but there suddenly seemed to be a knot tied down inside my stomach. I didn’t know why but I felt nauseous. Because there was still a very tiny voice in my head asking why Cain would be here auctioning for the dress after I’d thought it impossible earlier.
“We are going from seventy thousand dollars! Anyone wanna bid that? Anybody?” Yuki said.
Almost as he said the words, Cain’s deep voice rang through the entire wide room, “one million dollars.”
The instant silence that swept across the room was insanely hot. For a considerable amount of time, the silence lingered. What? Was he stupid or he just likes to make relevance of himself in places like this just to fuel his ego. That’s a very ridiculous amount of money just for a piece of cloth. What if nobody tops that bid?
My goodne……
“Two million dollars.” Came another voice.
My eyes quickly traveled to the front seat to see the man putting up his paddle.
It was no other than Nathan Moretti. Apparently, he’s seated on the same front row where Cain is seated.
Almost immediately after he spoke, Cain puts up his paddle and said “twenty million dollars.”
“That is ridiculous!” A very angry Miles Moretti sneered as he rose to his feet right next to his son, Nathan, his eyes glaring at Cain.
After

“Actually, Mr Moretti,” Yuki said as he came forward from behind his podium “there’s nothing ridiculous about this.

A slow mischievous and at the same time sensual smirk danced on Yuki’s lips as he added, “besides, it’s obvious there’s a

“No one? Then we can all agree that we have a buyer. Mr Cain Malachi!”
The entire room erupted in applause.
“Now before anybody leaves, let’s proceed to the east side lobby to have a little cocktail.” Mr Yuki Kim announced.
Jessica and I stepped out from the chairs and started heading out with the rest of the guests towards the lobby.
As we neared the entrance leading to the lobby, I felt a hand grab hold of my arm and pulled me away and into a very narrow hallway.
Before I could let out a gasp, I heard a door open quickly and I’m falling back into a different room, the sound of a door shutting behind me and a paid of strong hands catching me by my waist and positioning me against the wall
Everything seemed to have happened in a matter of seconds

Me falling into this room. Hands grabbing my waist. Back hitting the wall. Icy blue eyes staring back at me.
“I thought that was you I sensed looking for me.” Cain said into my face, his breath touching every inch of my face. My breath cut in my throat and all I could do was watch his domineering eyes.
I tried to calm myself and steady my breathing without making a fool of myself.

So I looked down, away from his compelling eyes and tried to clear my throat so my voice doesn’t come off broken. “Why did you do that?” I asked softly “why did you soend such a ridiculous amount of money just to get that dress?” “The dress fitted you perfectly, Effie. I didn’t wanna see it go.”
What did he mean by that? Does that mean…..
“I had to get it for someone really important to me. I just know that she’ll love the dress when I return back to the pack.”
What?
My face instantly dropped and I wished it didn’t. I didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of knowing that I’d somehow thought that he’d bought that dress for me.
But imagine his saying that to me like that. He’s obviously purchased that dress for his wife and he tells that to my face? When are you going to learn Effie…..
“Oh, is that a look of disappointment?” He said mockingly as he pulled away from me “don’t worry, I can always get you another dress if you want…..”

Chapter 21
“We need to join the cocktail.” I said quickly, cutting him off and attempting to step away from him.
I’m sorry. I know I probably sound like an asshole now.”
Putting up a fake smile, I looked up at him and said “no you’re not, Cain. I would like to return back to the party now.”
Did my voice just tremble?
Just then, my phone started vibrating from my bag. I’m glad that I’ve somehow found something to distract me from this awkward situation right here and it would potentially help me wiltz my way from this room and away from Cain.
I fetched my phone and saw Odeth’s name flashing across the screen.
Oh my goodness, I totally forgot about meeting with her today.
I hurriedly place the phone over my ear.
“Hey, Od….
“I’m at the lobby where everybody’s at. Where are you?!” Odeth’s urgent voices cuts me off.
“Oh, I’m coming to meet you right now.” I said to her before ending the call.
Something seems to be wrong. There’s so much urgency in her voice. What could be so important that she couldn’t wait a day or two to tell me?
Without saying another word to Cain, I walk out of the room.
I hurry out of the narrow hallway and stepped into the lobby where everyone seemed to be busy.
Everyone’s drinking cocktails at tables and chatting away. Mr Moretti seems to have forgotten about what happened earlier at the bidding room with Cain as he talked seriously with some other important men who had come into this room in hopes of leaving with that dress, if Cain hadn’t thrown in that ridiculous amount and changed everything.
Just as I’m about to take another step further into the room, a hand grabs me to the side and I came face to face with Odeth.
“Odeth, you missed the entire auctioning!” I told her.
“Yeah I know, I got delayed sorry.”
“That’s fine. You can join the cocktail,” I told her “you said you wanted to tell me something?”
“Yes,” she replies before leaning into me and adding, “I found something yesterday. There’s something in this side, Effie….”
Odeth was the only one who knew that I was a werewolf. Odeth was human but she knew almost everything about my kind thanks to her late father’s devoted time into studying my kind. And Odeth has done a very great job keeping me a secret from the rest of the humans like her.
She never calls me by my real name. Ever. So as she calls my real name now, I knew immediately that whatever this was didn’t have anything to do with my human side but of my werewolf side.
“I found the location of a time traveler,” she said conspiratorially to me “and she’s here, in this room.”
I gasped loudly.
Because I’m a hundred percent sure there wasn’t a time traveler in here. Because I knew who she was.
