Chapter 32

I was shocked by the way Elise suddenly reacted and it really hurt my feelings. Just when I was beginning to understand why the arrogant guard did what he did, She acted on her own just like that.
“What do you think you’re doing Elise, Why would you hit him I was surprised.
Elise looked at me and got too close to me.
“There was a good reason for that Luna of the Blood Moon pack She said,
The way she recently started calling out my full name anytime we were in an argument really hurt my feelings. I already knew she was mad at me because she thinks I betrayed her, She didn’t have to spell it out for me.
“And what was the reason? You didn’t even let him finish, And you went ahead to hit him in the face. That’s so unfair and you know that,” I complained. But Elise didn’t care about what I thought. She just kept staring at the arrogant guard who was looking at her with bruises all over his face.
“You just disrespected your king again and that was why I hit you. Before you say anything awful about my brother you should keep in mind that he helped you as many times as you can count. My brother isn’t the type to murder someone without a reason,” Elise said angrily.
“Elise you should at least calm down and hear his explanation. Maybe something might trigger and you’ll find out the reason why your brother had to do it in the first place,” I tried to explain to her.
“Yes my lady, At least try to understand my own point of view first before you conclude. You might understand the reason behind all this,” The arrogant guard said. It seems that Elise finally calmed down due to the way she kept muted for a while. She looked straight at me and said.
“I don’t know what you’re scheming about Luna of the Blood Moon pack but you better stop it. You are trying to take his side and not my side?” She asked but then I got confused and a little bit excited.
Does she mean that she wanted me to side with her because she has forgiven me? Is that the case now? If that was really the case then, it was the first step in gaining her trust. But to be honest, I didn’t know what to do at that point. I wanted to side with the truth but if I were to just side with her it’ll only show that I just wanted her to favor me and nothing else.
I wasn’t the type of person to just go with the truth only because someone told me to, I wanted it to be fair and square.
I didn’t utter a word after she spoke to me, Though I felt bad that I didn’t but that was the only option I had left.
She then ignored me and turned to the arrogant guard and said.
“Now tell me, What was the reason,” She asked.
“My parents were actually servants of the Elfina’s pack, Though I wouldn’t say they were servants but that was how they treated them. It was 4 years ago, Just before your brother became king. A few weeks ago he began to take responsibility. My mother was a maid to the king while my father was his personal bodyguard. They both each served in a crucial role to the king.” The guard explained.
It seems things were going well already, Or did he not like the fact that his parents were made servants to serve the king? “So basically your whole family were servants to the king and that was your occupation?” Elise said.
Although that was quite harsh coming from her but then I couldn’t argue with the fact that she was right, Not in a harsh way though.

Chapter 32
The guard continued:
“Then one day your brother sent out two troops to go for a difficult mission and unfortunately my father was among the two guards he sent out for the mission.
After they left they never came back, News reported that they were both dead in carrying out the mission. But your brother the king didn’t care, He just pretended as if they weren’t important to him at all. He immediately let the matter slide. I saw his reaction that day and he didn’t care a bit at all, I knew that I’d have to deal with him. He let them die without thinking twice. He knew how difficult the mission was and yet he still sent only two troops to go instead of sending an entire army.” He said.
His story really touched me and now I could understand where he was actually coming from. I looked at Elise and to my surprise, She was touched by his story too. I smiled realizing how interested and focused she was.
She could behave arrogantly as she wants but she can’t hide the fact that her inner self is still there. The kind and thoughtful Elise I once knew was still within her.
“What…what about your mom?” Elise said.
I was shocked. I really wanted to be the one asking that question but Elise said that!
Things were looking up now and I was so glad it had to turn out this way too. I smiled immediately when she asked the guard that.
The guard sighed and replied.
“That’s even where all the problems began, My mom was sentenced to death because of that,” He said as we gasped.
The story was now becoming intense all of a sudden.
“Why?! What happened?“Elise asked, looking so worried.
“It was right after she found out about what happened with my father. She suddenly went insane, I told her the way the king reacted to my father’s death like he didn’t care, I told her I witnessed all of it. My mom immediately rushed to the king and said a lot of disrespectful things to him right in front of the king and other higher ranks and generals. The king got furious and ordered to sentence her to death. It all happened right in front of my eyes, I got more angry. I understand that my mother said a lot of disrespectful things but she only did it because she was hurt by the way the king treated her husband like he was trash and meant nothing to him. But why would the king go to the extent of sentencing my mother to death?” explained.
I felt really bad. What a sad story. I think the king was to blame for everything that happened and now I could understand where he was coming from this time around. I looked at Elise again. Surprisingly, She was in tears. I was shocked and quickly went to console her.
“Elise, Are you okay?” I said with concern.
She shook her head and used her hands to wipe her tears away.
“So….so what happened after that?” Elise said while replying to the guard.

“The next day, My mother was sentenced to death for burning her alive. It all happened right in front of my eyes and still no one cared. Not even the king myself, I was so pissed. I tried to be strong but I couldn’t help myself. Just right after her death, I saw the king and his concubines chilling and having so much fun together. As if nothing bothered him at all, And from that I swore to take revenge on him for killing my parents,” He said as one drop of tears rolled down
my
cheeks.
And then I thought to myself, How could the king do such a thing to his close bodyguards? I think the rumor I heard about him was right after all. It looked like he never cared about people who were close to him and he never will.
The guard still continued.

“After that day, I heard that the king was looking for new bodyguards to assist him and that was when I decided that I would assist him. I thought that might be the easiest way to seek revenge on him. That day, They recruited me and the other guard who claims to be my partner.” He said while staring at the other guard who was a few miles away from us.
“I’m sorry if I used you and threatened to kill your girlfriend if you didn’t help me. I just wanted to seek revenge, No….I was aching for revenge because I couldn’t wait any longer. I’ve waited for 4 years to see this day and now the day has finally come. I can die happy.” He said as he gently closed his eyes.
Wait! Was he planning on taking his own life? Or does he think that Elise might tell the guards to sentence him to death? Either way, Why would he say he would die happy after seeking revenge? Did he already think that he would die? That was so out of it.
Suddenly, Something occurred to me. I don’t know why but somehow my body was aching or more like trying to draw me closer to the king who lay there almost lifeless. I began to hear voices in my head telling me to ‘Heal.
Heal? Do I have healing powers now? The thing was I didn’t even know some of the powers I had, I just did whatever my dark powers drew me to do.
The same thing occurred when I got kidnapped and somehow I choked someone to death using these same powers. To me my powers were really weird and it scared me that one day I might hurt people around me, I might hurt Alpha kanen or the babies one day.
My whole body felt so uncomfortable and I didn’t know how to react. The voices kept telling me to Heal…Heal, But still, I tried to avoid that voice. I was scared of what might happen if I went closer to the king and tried to heal him then I ended up killing him instead. I’d rather ignore everything.
Suddenly, Elise slowly went closer to the guard and said.
“I never knew your back story could be this touching and heartbroken. I’m sorry for what happened with your parents and I apologize on his behalf,” Elise said as she bowed down, Showing her sincere gratitude towards him.
The two guards who held him suddenly let go of him and the arrogant guard walked towards Elise.
Elise lifted her head up and stared at him.
“Thank you for at least trying to understand me, Lady Elise. I’m sincerely grateful that you took out your time to try and listen to what I’ve told you today and I’m deeply grateful for that. The guard said as he also slowly bowed towards her.
Things were now finally looking up already, I thought.
“But that doesn’t change the fact that my brother had been poisoned and is in a coma right now, you’ll have to at least be punished for what you did today,” Elise said as the guard looked at her in a sad expression.
“If it means killing myself then I’ll gladly do it because I’ve already tried to achieve my goals. I’m sorry to say this but the king deserves what I did to him. He killed my parents without hesitation and now after 4 years of waiting, He’ll have to die without hesitation too,” He said with a straight face.
Elise sighed and said.
“I already apologized for what my brother did and now it’s time for you to get punished for your deeds,” Elise said as the guard smiled.
“I’ll gladly accept the punishment,” He said as Elise ordered the guards to take him away and that was how they all left.
Elise faced my direction and saw the way I reacted as if I was fighting with someone but the truth was, I tried to avoid myself from going close to the king.
“Rose? Is something wrong?” Elise asked.
