Chapter 4
EFFIE’S POV.
“Where is my sister?” I asked with gritted teeth as I sat across the table from Cain.
I still couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that he knew about my son, Ace. I thought I’d kept that secret hidden well. but I should have known that as long as someone else helped me deliver him, it could never stay a secret.
After Alpha Cain raped me that night and drove off, I found out late that I was with his child. Devasted, I traveled far to find a way to disappear forever. That’s how I ended up here. I thought Can would nerve find us and he would never know. But here I was now, sitting across from him with anger and regret.
“What happened to Gage, Cain?!” 1 asked him.
“Gage isn’t looking for you, Effie, she never did.” He replied.
I wanted to think that he was lying but a voice in my head wondered if he wasn’t. Did Gage know that I tried to find her? That I tried to fight for her?
“Now where is my son, Effie?” Cain asked me.
I watched him, unable to say a word. “You raped me, Cain, and then you sent me away after slaughtering my entire city and taking everyone I loved captive. You were my mate but you didn’t think twice before doing all you did to me after you took my sister!” My voice trembled as the memory hit me again felt tears stinging my eyes before I felt Cain’s hand slowly reaching out to touch mine on the table. I flinched away from him and stood up.

better leave to where you came from,” I said “my son doesn’t need to know you”
I hurried out and drove off. That night, I made plans to leave the city and find somewhere else where Cain couldn’t find us. I was willing to leave everything I’ve worked for hard for to start a fresh
I went to the office the next day to wrap things up and ask Jessica to prepare me a flight out of the city for the evening
I knew Cain would go any length just to take Ace from me so I hired some bodyguards to watch him back at the house while I asked the nannys to help pack our bags.
Once it was time for me to leave, it was drizzling outside and people had umbrellas over their heads. I stepped out and tried to open my umbrella but I felt a big hand go over my mouth, more grabbing my body and lifting me off the ground and into some big black car.
Before I could protest, a sack is thrown over my head and the car took off. I kicked but it didn’t help me.
Once the car came to a stop, I was hauled out and the sack taken from my head. I came face to face with a glass house.” From here, I could see a few round tables inside, very few number of people seated around the tables eating. At the front of the entrance door was red carpet thrown out towards me. But what caught my attention was different. It was Cain.
Cain stood in front of the door, his hands inside his pants packets, his eyes watching me with a hint of glints.
He walks to me and takes my hand. “Please, have dinner with me”
I didn’t know how to respond to that. So I just let him walk me inside the room. Everywhere was beautiful
He takes me to a center table and helps me sit down.
“Now you kidnap me?” I shot at him

“I just wanted to see you, Effie.” He replies, standing up and putting out his hand for me to take.
I take his hand and he helped me up, walking is over to the glass walls. He steps behind me, his hand gently going over my waist.
“Look at the distance..” he mutters into my ear, his breath fanning my neck.
I looked into the dark night and saw the dark mountains in the dark distance.
“I never stopped looking for you. Effie….” He said, his breath against my skin sending tingling sensations traveling throughout my skin. How was he able to do that to me after so many years?
His hands slowly went up and down my waist.
“So let me take you home,” he adds, causing me to turn around and face him. “Let’s be together.”
My eyes scanned his. There’s so many emotions in his icy blue eyes. He still wanted me.
I still want him, even my wolf couldn’t hide it as it rejoiced inside me.
“Let me take you to see your sister, Effie. He adds,
My brows creases in confusion. My sister is still alive. And from how he said what he said, she is very much okay. But I couldn’t leave everything I’ve worked so hard for here and go back to our world.
I cut my gaze from his and started to look down, saying, Tm sorry….. I can’t….
Before I even knew what was happening, Cain is holding my chin and tilting my face up towards him. I watched with wide eyes as his lips moved in closer to mine. I could have stopped him but I didn’t. When his cold lips touched mine, electricity shot through my body.
His lips felt so right against mine. And he kissed me again And again. This time deeper and more demanding.
Cain pulls back, his eyes watching me intensely. He said “you have no idea how fucking badly I want you, Effie Owens.”
