Chapter 9
Eli pulled up in front of a white mansion. The drive through the gates to the front of this mansion is long enough, porch lights shining brightly and leading the path to the door steps.
The mansion was expanded to either side. It was massive, with doubled shapeless swimming pool right at the front, a fountain right behind it.
At one end of the building is what looked like a recreational spot, with chairs stuffed with pillows around a table, bright lights illuminating there.
This was the second time I was coming to Mr Blogwood’s mansion. The first time being the first time he asked me to help launch his tech wood app.
As I hurried towards the door, I caught scent of someone close by. First it was the scent of someone that I presumed to be Mr Blogwood himself, then came the scent of burning cigarette.
“Over here Cain.” I heard Mr Blogwood’s aging voice from the corner.
I stopped and turned to find him. Eli stopping right behind me too. I’m quick to catch a glimpse of Mr Blogwood in the dark. He is seated under a trampoline roof where a long iron couch is placed, throw pillows placed on each seat.
I started towards him, Eli waiting behind.
Mr Blogwood has his signature hat on his head. his black shades discarded this time, exposing his old wrinkled side eyes as a light from the distance shone onto his face, striking his eyes.
A cigarette burned from one of his hands placed on top of the table he sat at. I noticed a brown envelope folded in front of him as I reached him.
“I wonder what was so urgent, Mr Blogwood” I said to him
“Sit down, Cain” he said too casually. I sit down opposite to him and he pushed the envelope over to me.
Confused, I picked up the envelope and unfolded it. I pulled three different pictures from inside it. The pictures felt new underneath my skin. They’d just been taken.
I looked into the first picture and saw the front of a grocery store looking like it had just been broken into. The glass doors and walls is shattered all over the floor, and the shelves inside were upturned.
I looked into the second picture to see two bodies laid down unconsciously, or……. dead?
י
The first is a blond woman whose fair face is now streaked with dark blood and the second is a young man, a pool of his own blood around his head.
My brows forrow when I saw the third and last picture of three deep lashes on the metal wall inside the store. Three deep lashes could only mean one thing: werewolf attack
“There’s been an attack, Alpha, Mr Blogwood stated as he put out his cigarette on the ashtray. “Your kind are coming and destroying things. What do you have to say about that, Caini
He was upset. Too upset. Which meant he had to be involved with this incident. Maybe he knew one of the people who were attacked? Or he owned the store which has just been destroyed? Or he had some other duty to the city that I didn’t know about.
I put the pictures down and leaned back on the chair. I didn’t understand any of this. There weren’t any werewolves in this city. At least not anymore as far as I know,

So who would have done something like this and why?
“I do
o know who did this” I told him
9.78%
I didn’t know why but Mr Blogwood was furious for some reason. He leans over the table, his eyes watching me predatorialy, his teeth gritting as he said “you come into my city and suddenly a werewolf attacks a store and kills two people? What does that mean to you Cain?”
“I had nothing to do with this, Mr Blogw…..”
“You need to leave prince Alpha“” he said emphatically.
“What?” I muttered, confused.
If some werewolf came into town, causing chaos, how do I get to pay for that?
Suddenly, I felt angry at his outburst. How dare him talk to me like that? I was merely trying to be under the radar here which is why I answer to his every call. I would not take any disrespect from him.
Leaning over the table now and watching his eyes directly said “now you would watch your words now, Mr Blogwood, or else I might be forced to remind you of your place
I saw the shock in his eyes as the words hit him. He obviously seemed to have forgotten his place some minutes ago. I saw the fear that crept onto his eyes as I gazed at him thunderously.
He gulps hard as he leaned away from the table.
“L… I am just concerned about the safety of the people of this town, Alpha…” He stammered, fear lingering in his voice, “You leave me to worry about that Mr Blogwood,” I tried to meet his eyes but he kept looking away, avoiding eye contact “except there is something that you’re not telling me,”
“What? Of course not Alpha. I’m just worried that’s all.”
The lies was written all over his words and body language. And his facial expression.
But I leaned back, not wanting to push it any further. I knew for one that I wasn’t about to abandon all I came here to do- just because some lycans came into town and are on a killing spree.
Now I had more to worry about than actually winning Effie back.
“If this is why you asked to see me, then I will take my leave now.” I said with a broad lip lined smile before rising up from my seat.
“One more thing” Mr Blogwood said as I attempted to leave, forcing me to a stop
“Is miss Genevieve one of your kind?” He asks..
I remain still for a considerable amount of time. I didn’t know what he expects me to say to him. If he has had his suspicions about Effie since all this while, why did he go ahead to partner up with her?
Mr Blogwood might just be some human who knew exactly what I was, but I had this inclining feeling that he knew more than he was letting on.
“Don’t worry Mr Blogwood, I will see to this problem.” I said to him, cqmpletely ignoring his question before walking
Eli drove us back home and as soon as we stepped off the elevator, I let my thoughts in

“I heard all you talked about, Eli said as I poured us a drink who do you think they are? The lycans. And what are they looking for?”
“Trouble, that’s what.” I replied as I handed
