Chapter 2: The Newly Minted Minx
At the breakfast table:
Ethan:“Where’s the millet porridge?”
Margaret (the housekeeper):“You mean the stomach–soothing porridge?”
Ethan: “Stomach–soothing porridge?”
Margaret:“Yes, the one Ms. Miller used to make, millet, yam, lily bulb, and jujubes all simmered together. Oh, I don’t have time for that. The lily bulbs, barley, and jujubes need to be soaked the night before, and I have to get up early to simmer it.”
“And the heat control is especially crucial. I don’t have as much patience as Ms. Miller to keep an eye on the fire all the time. Even if I make it, it won’t taste the same. And…”
Ethan:“Get me some beef paste.”
Margaret:“Coming right up, sir.”
“…Why does it taste different?” Ethan glanced at the bottle. “The packaging is different too.”
Margaret:That jar is empty. There’s only this kind left.”
Ethan:“Go to the supermarket and buy a couple of jars to keep at home.”
Margaret:“You can’t buy it.”
Ethan: What?”
Margaret chuckled awkwardly. “Ms. Miller made that herself. I don’t know how to make it…”
BANG! Ethan slammed his fist on the table.
Margaret:“Sir? Aren’t you going to eat?”
Ethan:“No.”
Margaret watched him go upstairs, feeling rather puzzled. Why was he suddenly so irritable?
“Lazybones! Wake up!”
Summer burrowed deeper under the covers, eyes closed.“Don’t bother me. Let me sleep a little longer…”
Raina, Summer’s best friend, already made up and choosing a handbag, said, “It’s almost eight. Aren’t you going back to make breakfast for your Mr. Big Shot Ethan?”
Previously, Summer would sometimes stay over, but she would always rush back before dawn to make the health–conscious porridge for Ethan, who had a delicate stomach.
Raina was quite speechless about this…
Was Ethan crippled or something? Was it that hard to order takeout on his phone?

Chapter The Newly Minted Minx
He was just being fussy.
Frankly speaking, it was all because he was spoiled!
Summer was sleeping soundly. Upon hearing this, she waved her hand. I’m not going back. We broke up.”
Raina:“Oh, how many days are you planning to break up this time?”
Summer:(Silence)
Raina: “Then sleep as long as you like. Breakfast is on the table. I’m off to work. I’m having a date tonight, so don’t bother cooking for me… Well, never mind, you’ll probably be back soon. Close the balcony window when you leave.”
Summer woke up because she was hungry.
While eating the sandwich made by her best friend and looking at the bright sunlight outside the window, she couldn’t recall when was the last time she had woken up naturally.
After breakfast (which doubled as lunch), she changed into a different set of clothes and headed straight to the bank.
First, she cashed the $5 million check–holding the money in her hands was reassuring.
Then, she went to another bank next door:“I need to see your private banking manager. I want to deposit $1 million.”
Finally, the bank president came out and offered a fairly good annual interest rate.
Summer asked for an extra two percentage points, and they reached an agreement.
Using the same approach, Summer went to two other banks, each time depositing $1 million and negotiating an increasingly better interest rate.
Walking out of the last bank, Summer was officially a minx with three black cards, $30 million in deposits, and a $2 million cash reserve.
“Not bad for a breakup,” she muttered, grinning.
She’d struck it rich overnight.
When passing by a hair salon that was bustling with business, Summer pushed the door open and
walked in.
She immediately got a two thousand yuan membership card and got the privilege of skipping the
queue.
Sitting in front of the mirror and looking at herself with big brown wavy hair, she showed dissatisfaction for the first time.
“Wow, your hair is so well taken care of. You look like a doll…” the stylist said.
She had kept curly hair because Ethan liked long hair with an atmospheric look.
Every time after they were intimate, his hands would always run through her hair affectionately.

However, having beautiful curly hair meant spending more time on styling it. Summer smiled faintly. “Cut it short, straighten it, and dye it black.”
A doll might be pretty, but it was just a toy after all.
Whoever wanted to be one could be. She didn’t want to play along anymore.
After coming out of the hair salon, Summer felt relaxed. Coincidentally, there was a Uniqlo next door that was having a discount. She went in, picked a white T–shirt and a pair of jeans, and put them on right away.
They matched perfectly with her sneakers today.
As she walked, she found herself outside the gate of B University. Watching the students cycling in and out in the sunset, Summer Miller couldn’t help but be lost in thought.
“Professor Hill! Over here-“.
A young boy walked past Summer Miller.“Why is everyone here?”
“Everyone wants to visit Professor White…”
Professor Hill: There are so many people. The hospital definitely won’t let us all in. Well, two representatives from the Bioinformatics major can come with me.”
Bioinformatics…Professor White…
Summer’s eyes
became a bit serious. She quickly walked forward.“Who did you just say was sick!
Professor Hill, a bit flustered by the pretty girl, stammered, “Pr….Professor White.”
Summer: Professor Mia White?”
Professor Hill:“Yes.”
Summer:“Which hospital?”
Professor Hill:“West Capital Hospital.”
Summer: Thank you.”
Professor Hill:“Uh… Which department are you from, miss? Are you also one of Professor White’s students?”
The boy’s question was left behind by Summer as she walked away quickly.
Back at her apartment, Summer couldn’t calm down her emotions for a long time.
Was that little old lady who would jump up and knock on people’s heads when she was angry sick?
Was it serious?
She opened her address book, found the number saved as “Rose Green“, hesitated for a while, but in the end, didn’t have the courage to dial it.
Years ago, for the sake of being with Ethan and for her so–called love, she’d given up a direct–entry PhD program without a second thought,

Chapter 2 The Nowy Minted Min
She hadn’t even worked a day after graduating from undergraduate school and had turned herself into a housewife revolving around a man.
The old woman must have been terribly disappointed.
“Huh? Summer, you didn’t go back?” Raina said while changing her shoes, looking surprised.
Summer’s lips twitched. “What? You want to kick me out?”
“Tsk–tsk, it’s really amazing. You’ve lasted quite long this time. I remember last time when you broke up p with Ethan, less than half an hour after that, he made a phone call and you obediently went back.”
There’s porridge in the pot. Help yourself.”
Raina’s eyes lit up immediately. She rushed into the kitchen and scooped a bowl of porridge, sighing while drinking it.“Ethan Hayes, that jerk, is so lucky to be able to drink this every day…”
Summer:“Remember to wash the dishes and the pot and clean up after you finish eating. I’m going to bed.”
Raina: Wait, are you really not going back?”
The only response was the sound of the bedroom door closing.
Raina softly clicked her tongue.“She’s finally got some backbone…”
Under the same night sky, at the Riverside villa:
“Mr. Hayes, the bank confirmed that Ms. Miller personally cashed the $5 million check at 12:05 PM today…”
Ethan hung up the phone and coldly looked out at the night view outside the window.
“Summer Miller, what new trick are you playing?”
If she thought that by doing this, she could win him back, then she was surely mistaken.
Once he made a decision, there is no room for turning back.
“Charlie, let’s go out for a drink?”
Half an hour later, Ethan pushed open the door of the private room. Charlie Kieven was the first to greet him with a smile. “Ethan, everyone’s here, just waiting for you. What are we drinking tonight?”
Ethan walked inside.
Charlie didn’t move, looking behind him.
Ethan: “What are you staring at?”
Charlie:“Summer? Is she parking the car outside?“

Ethan’s face darkened.
