Chapter 4: You Can’t Spoil a Woman
Last night’s drinking had been a bit excessive. And later in the night, that Charlie dragged him out to continue drinking at another place.
When Ethan Hayes was sent back to the villa by his driver, it was already dawn.
He had originally collapsed onto the bed, with a wave of drowsiness overwhelming him. But still,
he forced himself to go to the bathroom and take a shower.
Maybe Summer wouldn’t scold him now? Ethan Hayes couldn’t help thinking in a daze.
The next time he opened his eyes, it was because of the pain.
“Ugh…” He pressed one hand against his stomach and climbed out of bed.
“My stomach Sum-
The name had just slipped out when he abruptly stopped.
He frowned. She was really showing him something, more backbone than last time.
Fine. Let’s see how long she could hold on.
But… where were his meds?
Ethan rummaged through all the cabinets in the living room that could hold things. After searching through every single one, he still couldn’t find the home medicine kit.
He called Margaret.
The stomach medicine? It’s in the medicine box.”
Ethan’s temples throbbed violently. He took a deep breath.“Where’s the medicine box?”
“It’s in the drawer of the bedroom cloakroom. There are several boxes stocked in it. Ms. Miller said that you often get a stomachache after drinking too much and would easily have a stomach problem when you woke up the next day, so she
the next day, so she put the medicine in the bedroom for the convenience of getting it…”
“Hello? Hello? Sir, are you still there? Why did you hang up…”
Ethan went to the closet and found the medicine box in the drawer, just as Margaret said.
It was full of his usual stomach medication–five boxes.
After taking his meds, the pain was relieved, and his tense nerves gradually relaxed.
As he casually pushed the drawer back, suddenly, the man’s movement froze.
The jewelry, luxury designer bags, none of these were missing, but all of Summer’s documents in the drawer, including her ID card, passport, degree certificate, and graduation certificate, were
all
gone.
Taking another look at the suitcases piled up in the corner, indeed, one was missing.
“Good…good…really good…”

He said “good” three times in a row while nodding his head.
You can’t spoil a woman. The more you spoil them, the worse their temper gets.
Just then, he heard the front door open downstairs. He rushed down.
What are you doing here?”
Ana, Ethan’s sister, was changing her shoes. Hearing this, she looked a bit surprised.“Who else would it be? Who else do you expect?”
Ethan walked to the sofa and sat down, looking rather uninterested.“What are you doing here?
have something to do?”
Do you
“Margaret said you had a stomach ache? So I’m here on Mom’s orders to visit and show my dear brother some love,” Ana said, heading to the kitchen. “I haven’t had lunch yet, I’ll just grab some
here.”
Another reason why she had a good impression of Summer Miller was that the food Summer cooked was really delicious.
Thirty seconds later:
“Brother! Why is everything so empty here?”
“Where’s Summer? She’s not home today? That’s not like her…”
Usually at this time, she would have already cooked the meal and waited for her brother to come downstairs to eat. And if she was lucky, Ana could also get a share..
Summer, again, it’s always about Summer…
Ethan rubbed his temples, ignoring her.
Ana came out of the kitchen, disappointed. “Is she feeling unwell? She didn’t look well at the -hospital yesterday…”
…You saw her at the hospital?” Ethan subconsciously sat up a bit straighter.
“Yeah, I went to West Capital Hospital to visit Professor White yesterday and ran into Summer at the entrance of the inpatient building. Brother, guess what? Professor White agreed to give me a direct–entry PhD spot!”
Ethan frowned. “Why was she at the hospital?”
“You’re asking me? If you don’t know, how would I know?”
Ethan remained silent.
‘Maybe she wasn’t sick? Maybe she was just visiting someone else? But I’ve never heard that Summer Miller has any friends. Her life is all about you, just you…
“Done?”
Ana yelped.
“Done? Then leave. I haven’t even woken up yet.” Ethan stood up.
“No….you really want me to leave? Fine, I’ll leave.” Ana put on her shoes, annoyed.“By the way, I came here with a task today.”
Ethan didn’t want to listen at all and just walked upstairs directly.
“Tomorrow at two in the afternoon, West Coast Restaurant. Mom has arranged a blind date for you. Don’t be late!”
“So much to say.”
Ana stuck her tongue out at his back before leaving.
She had long been used to such arrangements. Anyway, being with Summer Miller didn’t conflict with finding a suitable marriage partner through an arranged match.
Over the years, her brother had attended quite a number of these occasions.
Although most of the time, he just went through the motions to appease their mother.
After driving Ana Hayes away, Ethan Hayes went to the study to handle company affairs.
In the early years, in order to break free from his family’s control, he started his own business.
The first three years were really tough. He didn’t want to accept his family’s help, and he only had Summer Miller by his side.
It was only in the last two years that he finally managed to make a name for himself and established his own company. Finally, he got rid of the labels like ‘rich second generation” and “playboy“.
At this time, his family’s attitude softened instead and began to take the initiative to get close to him.
This could be seen from the fact that they had strongly opposed his relationship with Summer Miller at first, but now they just turned a blind eye and tacitly accepted it.
By the time he finished dealing with work, the sun had already set.
Outside the window, twilight was gathering, and the street lights were just starting to come on.
Ethan finally felt hungry. He called his girlfriend, Hailey.“… What are you doing?”
There was a ringing sound from the other end. After that, came the girl’s voice, which was deliberately lowered. “Baby, I’m sorry. I have a class. I’ll come to see you after class, okay?”
That “Baby” made Ethan Hayes feel rather uncomfortable. Yeah, you’re busy.”
He hung up, tossing his phone aside.
Half a minute later, someone called in, but Ethan Hayes didn’t look at it and continued working. It wasn’t until his stomach started to protest that he had to leave the study.
He had a dinner date with Charlie and the others, so he changed clothes and prepared to go out. A girl sitting near the entrance heard him and stood up, turning around with a bright, shy smile.
“Hailey?”

“I’m sorry. I knocked on the door, but you probably didn’t hear it, so I could only sit here and wait.” She took a look at the suit jacket that the man had draped over his arm. Are you going out?“Are you going out?”
Ethan didn’t answer, only frowning slightly. “How did you find this place?”
Hailey looked guilty. “I asked one of your

“No, no, it was Garrett.”
Ethan:“Come in.”
friends…”
The girl’s eyes lit up with a smile again. She hopped in, looking around while complaining in a pitiful tone.“You hung up and didn’t answer my calls after that. I was worried for a long time…”
Ethan:“Weren’t you supposed to be in class?”
“Skipped it. My boyfriend is more important.”
Summer would never have done that.
Back when he was chasing her, she had just started her freshman year and had a full schedule of classes. But she never skipped classes for him.
Later, when they were together and especially in her senior year when there were fewer classes, she gradually managed to free up some time to accompany him.
Baby, you haven’t eaten yet, right? I-”
“Can you make stomach–soothing porridge?” Ethan asked, as if being prompted by some
unknown force.
“Stomach–soothing porridge?”
“Yeah.”
I don’t know how to make it, but I can learn.”
…
Ethan politely declined Hailey’s hint that she wanted to stay overnight. After eating the takeout she brought, he drove her back to school.
Then he went to meet Charlie.
While waiting for the red light on the road, he took a look at his phone and remembered what Ana Hayes had said about seeing Summer Miller at the hospital during the day.
Although they had broken up, after all these years, there was still some affection between them. Even if they were just ordinary friends, he should still show some concern.
He opened WhatsApp and typed:
[Are you sick?]
