Chapter 26
At the hospital, outside the surgical unit on the 16th floor, Andrew was in a panic. Just then, an unexpected phone call saved him. With no time to reassure the Lewis family, he quickly took the call in a quiet corner.
As the call connected, before Andrew could even speak, the person on the other end asked, “What’s going on with Samuel now? Was there a complication during surgery?”
Andrew was momentarily stunned and almost burst into tears from excitement. He couldn’t believe Magic Surgeon knew about the hospital’s situation.
He was uncertain whether she was there to help, if he was wasting his time, or even where she was located. Regardless, he quickly updated her on Samuel’s condition.
When Lillian heard that Samuel had been shot in the heart, her eyes widened slightly, but she didn’t press for details right away.
Even though Samuel was just a businessman with a clean record, his high status in the business world meant he could attract danger. Plus, his background wasn’t entirely spotless, so being shot seemed plausible.
“Dr. Miller insisted on removing the bullet even after it was too late for that. We have a backup plan for a heart transplant ready, but the Lewis family no longer trusts Dr. Miller,” Andrew explained.
A heart transplant was no ordinary surgery. Apart from the risks, rejection issues could arise later, which would be a serious
concern.
“As long as he’s alive, that’s what matters. I’ll be there in ten minutes, and find a way to keep him stable. Don’t rush the hear transplant; wait for me,” Lillian said, her voice calm.
Andrew was overjoyed. “You’re coming? That’s fantastic! There’s hope!”
Lillian lowered her voice. “Is it an injury or an illness? Give me his medical history in detail.”
Andrew replied quickly, “About four months ago, he was shot in the heart.”
‘Four months ago?‘ Lillian’s expression turned serious, and she frowned. She recalled that day in Neragion when she had taken out some jerk with a sniper shot, only to get bombarded in return.
‘The timelines and injuries line up. Is it just a coincidence or something more?‘ Lillian tightened her grip on the steering wheel.
Andrew continued, “Due to limited medical facilities at the time, he couldn’t remove the bullet in time. Not until this secc surgery today.”
Lillian patiently waited for Andrew to finish before asking, “Do you know where he was shot?”
“He didn’t provide that information,” Andrew said.
With a screech of the brakes, Lillian jumped out of the car. “I’m at the hospital now.”
She had a bad feeling and added, “Listen closely, don’t share any information about me with the Lewis family, including I performed this surgery.”
Saving Samuel would earn her VIP status in the Lewis family–basically a ticket to success. Andrew couldn’t understand she would turn that down. He figured that some powerful people might not care much for fame and fortune.
“Yes, absolutely,” Andrew replied, though he didn’t fully understand her insistence. He then put a stop to the backup plar and hurriedly left the confused Lewis family behind.

Chapter 26
ว
Just when the Lewis family was about to create chaos in the hospital, Andrew returned with a team of doctors. “Everyone, we have brought in a new chief surgeon. Rest assured, Mr. Lewis will be fine. I promise.”
As a doctor and also a hospital director, Andrew made such a bold promise to calm the Lewis family. He felt confident thanks to Magic Surgeon backing him.
Lillian had changed into different clothes and wore a mask, revealing only her eyes. She walked briskly among the doctors without acknowledging the gathering of Lewis family members
But then, her gaze landed on a small figure outside the operating room–Jesse. She was really surprised to see him there.
Jesse stood there, small and quiet, tears streaming down his face as he stared intently at the door to the operating room. He didn’t cry out loud or make a scene; he just let his tears fall in silence.
Jesse is part of the Lewis family?‘ Lillian suddenly remembered the man marked by the General–Jesse’s father. That face, either sickly or bearing old scars… Back then, she thought it looked a bit familiar.
Lillian quickly scanned the group of Lewis family members. Excluding the bodyguards, there were over thirty relatives present. Just as she suspected, that man wasn’t here.
Instead, she spotted Jesse’s uncle, the unlucky guy she had once kicked. He was sobbing uncontrollably, tears and snot covering his face. Anyone who didn’t know better might think the person inside was already gone. He looked even weaker than Jesse.
‘So, the person inside is… As her thoughts raced, Lillian was already in the operating room. After changing into surgical scrubs and disinfecting her hands, she moved towards the operating table. When she saw the man lying on it, she got her
answer.
His eyes were tightly closed, his face looked lifeless, and his weak breathing took away his usual intimidating presence. Looking at him now, he seemed much more approachable. It was him–Jesse’s father was actually Samuel.
The situation was urgent, so Lillian quickly glanced at Samuel’s face before focusing on her tasks. “Heart rate!” she commanded.
Inside the operating room, the team was racing against time to save a life. Outside, the Lewis family was anxious, pacing nervously back and forth.
The bright surgical light illuminated every detail of the operating table.
“Surgical scissors!”
“Surgical forceps!”
“Vascular clamp!”
In his dazed state, amidst the jumble of hurried sounds, a calm and steady female voice reached Samuel’s ears. It was hard to make out clearly, but somehow felt strangely familiar.
As the surgery continued, everyone, including Andrew, who had come in to observe, was blown away by Lillian’s exceptiona skills. She was so steady–truly steady.
She deserved the title of “Magic Surgeon,” someone the entire medical community aspired to emulate, yet always seemed to fall short.
Andrew, who had been watching Lilian perform the operation from a distance, was now up close and just as impressed.
And for those who had never witnessed such a remarkable event, their eyes were filled with admiration. They could brag for a lifetime about working alongside Dawn in ‘surgery.

Finally, after what felt like ages, the bullet lodged deep in Samuel’s heart was removed. Lillian’s mental focus kept her sharp for over three hours of surgery without a moment of distract.
Her eyes were fixed on the bloody bullet tip held by the surgical tweezers, her suspicions about to be confirmed.
After identifying the model, Lillian confirmed that the bullet was indeed from her sniper rifle. Emotions swelled in her eyes, and a surge of murderous intent instantly erupted within her.
It was him! The jerk who blew me up in Neragion!‘ she shouted in her heart. This bullet was her handiwork from back then. Samuel had his back to her, and the nighttime darkness hid his face.
When Andrew mentioned being shot in the heart over four months ago, Lillian had her suspicions. Turned out, it really was the same guy.
Lillian felt like swearing. In just a few seconds, she had an internal battle. But in the end, reason won out. With a decisive clatter, she tossed the bullet onto the tray. “Stitch him up,” she instructed, stepping back.
As the operating room doors swung open, Samuel was wheeled out.
Andrew wiped the sweat from his forehead, his heart still racing with excitement. “The surgery was a success. The bullet has been removed.”
In all his years, he had never faced a day as nerve–wracking as this one. Thankfully, his heart was strong; otherwise, he might have needed urgent care himself.
He had thought today would be his last day as a doctor. Honestly, if Samuel had died due to a mistake at his hospital, it would have completely crushed his career.
Upon hearing the surgery was a success, everyone in the Lewis family let out a sigh of relief.
Jesse finally couldn’t hold back his tears and began to sob.
As Lillian came out behind the team, she saw Jesse crying. Her expression turned complicated, frustration bubbling up, and her bloodshot eyes looked cold and harsh.
Andrew turned his head, ready to find Lillian, but she was already gone.
