Chapter 30
Yale heard Lillian loading a gun and immediately jumped up from his chair in a panic, saying, “Lillian, don’t do anything rash. The Lewis residence is a dangerous place. You can’t just barge in!”
Bradley was discussing work matters with his assistant, strolling casually as they passed the garage on their way back to the villa. Unexpectedly, a car burst out of the garage before they could react and was gone in a flash.
Bradley was startled and frowned at the fading silhouette, asking “Did you see who was in the car?”
“Seems like… Ms. Lillian Wilson,” the assistant replied uncertainly, though he had sharp eyes and had seen Lillian enter the garage from a distance
“Lillian? When did she learn to drive?” Bradley questioned.
Upon returning to the villa, Bradley asked the butler and found out that Lillian had taken the car keys from him. He immediately became angry, saying, “This is ridiculous! She’s so young, yet she dares to drive without a driver’s license!”
Lillian sped along the road, not heading directly to the Lewis residence but instead going to a shopping mall. It was only after she left the mall that she drove towards the Lewis residence.
At the gate of the Lewis residence, Jesse was waiting. His bright eyes were full of anticipation as he checked his phone for messages from Lillian. When Lillian arrived, he immediately stepped forward, worried that he might be too short for Lillian to notice him.
Lilian got out of the car and looked at Jesse, whose joy was evident on his face. She thought to herself, ‘Samuel, you better not mess with me!‘
Lillian was someone who never forgave, and her retaliation was always fierce. Her own strength gave her the confidence to act without considering the consequences, so even Samuel wasn’t someone she feared.
No one who crossed her was spared.
By a strange twist of fate, she had saved her enemy who had fired at her. She hadn’t killed Samuel on the operating table all for Henry. And because of Jesse, she started to consider letting Samuel off the hook.
In any case, such a karmic connection made Samuel’s name the one in bold and black on Lillian’s hit list.
These days, she had been trying to convince herself to call it even with Samuel. Before she could succeed in convincing herself, Samuel had captured Henry again.
Jesse pointed to the large bags Lillian was carrying, his eyes subtly asking her. He thought they were gifts for him.
Lillian said, “These are for your father.”
They weren’t for him. His surprise fell flat. Jesse couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed, but thinking that the gifts were for Samuel, he still felt happy for him.
Without dwelling on the gifts, he pinched the corner of his shirt with his hand, first looking down at his clothes, then at Lillian. His lips were shyly pursed, and he was waiting for Lillian’s praise.
-Jesse was wearing a cute, yellow short–sleeved shirt with a cartoon pattern, which he had never worn before. He had changed
into it this time because Lillian had once commented that he dressed too formally.
Unfortunately, Lillian didn’t notice or pick up on his hint.
Having witnessed Samuel’s ruthlessness, Lillian was worried about Henry’s situation. She strode towards the gate carrying her things. After a few steps, she realized Jesse hadn’t followed. She turned back.

Chapter 30
Jesse approached her with low spirits. Lillian naturally couldn’t guess the reason.
Jesse put away his emotions and led Lillian inside. Then he heard Lillian say, “The clothes are cute.”
He immediately looked up at Lillian, then quickly, shyly, looked back at the floor, his steps becoming lighter.
The security guard sized up Lillian but did not stop her.
Lillian entered the Lewis residence and headed towards Samuel’s place. After walking along a huge artificial lake for about ten minutes, Jesse pointed out the standalone villa by the lake to her.
In the spacious first–floor hall of the villa, Samuel sat on the sofa with his legs crossed, his intimidating aura not diminished at all by the sickly look on his face.
He looked at Henry across from him with a calm demeanor, the innate aura of a leader exerting a subtle pressure on those around him.
With a slight lift of his eyelids, his stern gaze fell on Henry as he asked, “Dr. Miller, haven’t you figured out how to respond yet?”
His tone was neither light nor heavy, and his words were polite, but they still made Henry feel as if he had a thorn in his back. His breathing became labored.
After a while, Henry said, “The accident that occurred during the surgery was my mistake. I have no excuse, and I will take full responsibility. As for what you want to know about Dawn, I’m afraid I can’t tell you anything.”
It was a mercy that Samuel didn’t demand his life as compensation for the near–disaster caused by Henry’s mistake. Henry continued. “It was entirely my own doing. No one instructed me to harm you, and I have no grudge against you.”
It was understandable for Samuel to suspect Henry’s ulterior motives, given that Henry initially refused to perform the surgery but then suddenly agreed and made an error during the procedure.
“Whatever punishment you deem fit, I have no complaints,” Henry pleaded, “but could you please spare my life, considering that Dawn saved you?”
He couldn’t die.
Samuel seemed to have heard a joke, his lips twitching slightly as he said, “Dr. Miller, I’m afraid I don’t understand what you’re saying.”
Although Lillian had Andrew conceal her identity and Yale erase all traces of her presence at the hospital, the only one who could have successfully completed the surgery in place of Henry was Dawn.
So even without investigating, Samuel knew who had saved him and guessed that Dawn, who had initially refused to help despite a large fee, had finally shown up because of Henry. If Samuel died, Henry wouldn’t survive either.
Henry looked up to meet Samuel’s indifferent eyes, saying, “I need to stay alive to do something for Dawn.”
Samuel seemed to have taken a bit of interest, but before he could ask more, a large and a small figure walked in through the door.
Lillian’s gaze first fell on Samuel, who was sitting facing the direction of the door, and their eyes met briefly.
Samuel, who recognized the newcomers, narrowed his eyes slightly. Although he didn’t show any emotion, it was clear he wasn’t particularly welcoming.
But as they approached, Samuel still spoke up. “Hello, Ms. Wilson.”

Lillian responded to him: Hello, Mr. Lewis
Hearing this familiar voice, Henry’s body stiffened, and he immediately looked up, surprised by Lillum’s presence.
A flurry of guesses surfaced in Henry’s mind, a mix of worry, fear tension, and embarrassment all intertwined in his heart But he dared not make a move.
Samuel was also slightly stunned at Lillian’s voice. This voice was somewhat familiar. He seemed to have heard it somewhere else besides with Lillian.
And he had an inexplicable feeling towards this voice in his consciousness. He couldn’t put it into words. It was like a sense of relief.
He was puzzled, but at this moment, Henry’s strong reaction interrupted his thoughts, drawing his attention.
Samuel glanced at Henry, his eyebrows slightly raised, following Henry’s gaze to Lillian who had walked up to them.
And when his gaze fell on Lillian again, it no longer held the previous coldness but had something else instead Aware that Samuel was still present, Henry forced himself to shift his eyes away from Lillian, but it was obviously too late.
Samuel asked, “Dr. Miller, do you know Ms. Wilson?”
