Chapter 12
Leila was surprised by my answer.
Then, she softened her tone and said, “What are you talking about? You have so much money in your account. Why can’t you just give me 1,300,000 dollars? I’m your only sister, after all.
“It’s not just for me. Antonio will be living there too. He was your boyfriend once. Do you really want him to suffer?”
She had the nerve to mention Antonio was my boyfriend! Did this ever occur to her when she seduced him?
I replied coldly, “He needs some suffering.”
Then I hung up.
Less than a minute later, another call came in. It was Antonio.
“Grace, do you have time to meet?”
I knew he was reaching out for the money, but I agreed because I had questions of my own.
Antonio chose the café we used to frequent.
He even ordered my usual latte.
But I no longer felt anything. I just stared at him and asked, “Antonio, when did you decide to leave me for Leila?”
His expression tensed at the question.

Antonio quickly responded, “I’m already married to your sister. What’s the point of asking? I actually came here to-”
“Answer me first!” I cut him off.
“What’s with your attitude?” Antonio instinctively snapped back.
Then, he seemed to have realized he was no longer my boyfriend.
Without blinking, he lied, “It was when you were in Malicao. I just didn’t see a future for us. Your sister was around when I visited your parents. We spent some time together, and things just happened.”
What a smooth liar.
I let out a bitter chuckle. “Will you ever tell the truth?”
Antonio got annoyed.
“Do you really have to make this difficult? We’re family now, like it or not.
“I came to ask for your help. Leila and I really need a bigger place. Can’t you just give us the money?”
He reached out a hand.
At this point, all he could think about was Leila and money.
I felt a wave of cold disappointment. “Not a single cent,” I said flatly.
His patience snapped.

“Grace! Are you still mad about me marrying Leila and having a child with her? If you weren’t so stingy back then, I wouldn’t have left you! Ever think about that?”
Stingy? I gave him 80,000 dollars when I was abroad. Wasn’t that enough?
I couldn’t even be bothered to argue. I just said calmly, “It has nothing to do with that. No matter what you say, I won’t-”
Before I could finish, Antonio suddenly stood up and slapped me across the face.
