About 3 months later, I got a call from a police officer.
“Parrish, your sister ran away after she gave birth in the hospital. Be careful. She could go see you.”
Right after I hung up, I saw Leila standing in front of me.
Months had passed by, and she looked haggard and thinner, like a different person.
She scowled at me, holding a knife.
I asked, “What do you want?”
“You’re my sister, Grace. How could you do that to me?”
“Did you ever think of me when you slept with Antonio? You left me alone in the basement during your wedding. Do you really see me as your sister?” I asked and moved backward, looking around for something to defend myself.
She shouted, “Mom and Dad love me, not you. You’re only a tool in their eyes. And too bad your birth mom is dead. As for Antonio, I did steal him from you. So what?”
My heart ached a lot because of what she had said.
I took a deep breath. “Your mom was a home–wrecker. As for Antonio, that loser only has you to love him. He ran away with all your dad’s money. You don’t know that, do you? He loves you for your money, not who you are. With no money, you’re worthless to him.”

12 Voucher
“I ended up here thanks to you!” she screamed and darted over, her eyes bloodshot.
I had recovered from my serious injuries and taken part in peacekeeping operations, so I had a better physique than many people.
I lifted a fire extinguisher to block her knife and kicked her
over.
Then, I took the knife from her and threw it away. With my foot on her skinny body, I said in a cold voice, “Leila, as a woman of low moral character, you deserve the suffering.”
After saying that, I called the police.
Lying on the ground in disgrace, Leila stayed silent for a long while and said in a sad voice, “Grace, I shouldn’t have stolen your boyfriend or even married him. I should’ve been nicer to you…”
I didn’t know if she meant it, but I had no interest in finding it out. I responded with indifference, “It’s too late.”
Soon, the police came and brought her back to prison. Maybe she would get two more years there.
Two months later, something big happened.
Antonio stabbed Gatlin with a knife.
Gatlin had been looking for Antonio to get his money back, and Gatlin succeeded.
They had a fierce fight. Antonio took away Gatlin’s knife and stabbed him a dozen times.

Gatlin was lucky not to die. However, one day passed, and he still couldn’t get out of the emergency room.
Another half–day later, the nurse who was responsible for looking after Gatlin called me. “Grace, your dad is dying. He wants to see you for the last time.”
