Chapter 6
Colin gave me a sympathetic look before saying, “It happened just a few days after you left for Malicao. That day, Antonio and I were both on duty. As I passed his office, I overheard him on a call.
“He said he never actually intended to join the medical support mission. He only signed up because he realized your sister had taken a liking to him. He believed being with her would bring him more money. This was his way of getting you out of the picture.”
I was stupefied for a long time before stiffly asking, “Are you sure that was what he said?”
I never expected the real reason behind Antonio backing out of the mission to be this absurd.
Colin nodded and took out his phone, sending me a recording.
“He talked to his friend for a while. I thought you should know, so I recorded it.”
I played the audio. Sure enough, Antonio’s voice came through.
“I’ve got Grace figured out. Her whole life revolves around saving lives. Leila is not like her. At least the Parrish family is willing to spend money on Leila. We only chatted for a few days, and she already got me a luxury watch…”
Hearing the undeniable truth, I had no choice but to believe it.

Chapter 6
I never imagined Antonio to be so materialistic.

The man I remembered was kind and selfless, always putting others before himself. Had he been pretending all along?
Even worse, he had started seeing Leila before I even left the country!
But the most despicable part? Antonio knew how dangerous the mission was and still tricked me into going.
I wouldn’t say those two years were a waste. In fact, given the lives I had saved, I would say it was worth it.
But still, it was evil for him to deceive me like that!
“Grace, are you okay?” Colin asked, worried.
I forced a smile. “I’m fine. Thank you for telling me this.”
After Colin left, I picked up my phone and called Antonio.
I needed answers.
If he had just told me he wanted to break up with me and be with someone else, I wouldn’t have clung to him.
I wasn’t that desperate.
The phone rang over ten times before someone finally picked it up. But it was Leila’s voice that came through.
“What do you want with Antonio? He’s my husband now. Please keep your distance.”
She was my sister. Even though she had stolen my boyfriend, I couldn’t do anything about her.

Chapter 6
I was silent for a few seconds before asking, “Leila, do you really know what kind of person Antonio is?”
I used to think my father was wrong about Antonio being a gold digger.
But after hearing Colin’s recording, I had to admit my father might be right.
Leila chuckled, “What kind of question is that? If I didn’t know him, would I have married him? Grace, he and I are already married. Stop trying to take him back, or you’ll lose a sister.”
